I didn't know Sue well in high school, just enough to say hi while passing her in the hallway. It was in the summers afterwards when we returned from whatever college we went to that I got to know Sue, Sally, and Doctor Huss. Susie and I explored the various neighborhoods of Chicago. We went to the Biograph to catch Euro flicks, also The Quiet Knight on Belmont for blues. We spent hours in the Art Institute and walked the streets of the Gold Coast admiring the various townhouses. There were festivals in Lincoln Park and one day we visited the University of Chicago campus of which Susie said she "liked the vibe" there. Then there were of course week ends at the lake house. Those were great days. The world seemed to lay out before us full its possibilities. After graduation we would all as Susie said "jump into the unknown".
