Sue's Timeline

November 21, 2012

Sue was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 16, 1946, to Nora Madelyn Montgomery Stimson and Richard Dalton Stimson.  She was their first born.  Becky came along two years later on February 28, 1948, followed by Donna on July 2, 1950.  The Three Stimson Sisters.  That's what we called ourselves.

Dad was a brickmason and we traveled wherever the work was.  That usually meant changing schools at least once a year, sometimes twice!  All this moving brought the three of us girls close together as playmates and friends, which created a bond that even miles of separation and occasional disagreements couldn't break.

As children, we moved to the states of Texas, Utah and New Mexico.  Becky and I continued to move on to the states of Arizona and California, but when Sue graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she had enough of traveling and dug her roots deep into Albuquerque's South Valley.

She met and married Kenneth Purcella at the age of 18, on August 29, 1964, in Almagordo, New Mexico.  They settled in the South Valley, where her first born, Danny Ray Purcella was born on September 18, 1965.  Sadly, Sue's second son, Jeffery Lynn Purcella, was born on October 7, 1968 and passed away within 24 hours of his birth.  Three years later, on October 1, 1971, Wendy Lorraine Purcella was born.

Sue divorced Kenneth when the kids were young and at the age of 35, married Bill Farless on May 24, 1981.  They lived in Albuquerque's South Valley and Los Lunas until Bill passed away.

On August 3, 2002, Sue married Floyd McClelen.  The man she called "the love of my life".  They lived the remaining years of Sue's life in her beloved South Valley.

Throughout her years, Sue used her bookkeeping skills and office managing skills, working in various locations all over Albuquerque.  Sue was also well known for her sewing skills, making a lot of her own clothes because she couldn't get anything to fit her in the stores.  She also made suits, prom dresses, cheerleader uniforms, halloween costumes and clothes for her grandaughter, Sara.

Sue loved her family and our family reunions.  She came to our 2011 reunion in Dallas, knowing it would probably be her last one.  As her sisters, we did too and it made it that much more special that we were all there together with our Mom to share the memories.

This is just a brief look at Sue's life.  Please feel free to add your own stories of your life with Sue.
