Mrs. Sue Owens Copeland, 84, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Lanier Nursing Home in Valley, AL. She was born in Zenora, Louisiana to Jefferson Davis Owens and Frances Bryant Owens.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, August 31 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lanett at 10:00 a.m. EDT with Rev. Martin McGeough and Rev. Antoo Alaphat officiating. Burial will follow in Marseille Cemetery in West Point.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. EDT for one hour before the service in the Parish Hall at Holy Family.

Mrs. Copeland is survived by four children, Seth (Diane) Copeland, III of Atlanta, GA; Ann (Ed) Yeargan, LaFayette, AL; Margaret (Tony) Pollard, West Point and Chris (Robin) Copeland, West Point; seven grandchildren, Ginger Hines, Courtney Johnson, Caroline Yeargan, Lyndsey Copeland, Emily Copeland and Tanner Copeland and two great grandchildren, Paisley Patterson and Jacob Hines; two brothers, Juel (Seldon) Owens, Brookhaven, MS and Jerry (Martha) Owens, Beau Mont, Texas; and two sisters Gay (Larry) Campbell , Jena LA and Frances (Clay) Crooks, West Monroe, LA and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seth Copeland, Jr., a grandson, Russell Patterson and a brother, Wayne Owens.

Mrs. Copeland was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lanett where she was very active, belonging to the Ladies Sodality, St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was an affiliate of the Vincentian Community. She was retired from West Point Pepperell where she worked for 34 years and was the first female supervisor in the company. She was an avid gardener and wonderful cook.
