In the summer of 2011, Susan put herself under Hospice care, having made the decision not to receive further treatment for her cancer.  She wanted to enjoy her last days with a quality of life not possible with chemotherapy. Hospice provided that for her.  Susan loved life and lived it right up until the end. She spent many wonderful days and moments with friends and family right up until one week before her death. During that week, she received pain treatment and was able to leave this world very peacefully and without pain.  She passed away early in the morning on October 1st in her own bed and her own home with her sister Lois in her company.

Susan and Bob spent much time in Sunset Beach with the ocean just outside their door. Later, after Bob passed away, Susan moved to Huntington Beach, close to many of her long-time girlfriends as well as family.  She loved going out and sitting on the beach at nearby Seal Beach with her sister, Lois.  One of her last family gatherings was at Seal Beach with her nieces and some of her grand-nieces and great-grand-nieces and nephews.  She loved her family!!

It is impossible to remember Susan's life without mentioning her love of the Christmas season and the parties she and Bob put on year after year. 

Susan and Bob (and countless friends) loved their home in Lake Arrowhead.

Susan met Bob, the love of her life, and married him in 1981.  They spent over 20 fabulous years together. 

Susan LOVED her years of teaching and taught several grades including 2nd and 3rd and worked for many years teaching teachers. 

Susan graduated from Hoover High School in Glendale and later attended CSULA where she received her teaching degree.

Susan was born Susan Irene Salisbury on August 11, 1942 in Glendale, California to Harry Robert Salisbury and Ellen Elizabeth Viereck Salisbury. She was delivered by her father, who was a physician.

She grew up in Glendale, CA with her older sister Joyce, younger sister Lois, and younger brother Ralph.
