Sylvia Peterson died in Brooklyn, NY on July 28, 2023, aged 77. Peterson was born on September 30, 1945. A professional singer, she joined girl group The Chiffons in 1962. At the time, she was the only member of the group with a professional background in singing, having appeared with Little Jimmy Rivers & the Tops aged 14. After the group became a trio in 1972, Sylvia became lead singer and continued live performances until taking up a career in healthcare. She returned to the group in the 1980s but had retired by the early 1990s.
