Because you cared, you came to share beautiful flowers and words of prayers.  Because you cared enough to do, words of comfort and cards came, too.  Because you cared, we're grateful in deed.  You've been a comfort and a friend in need.  Because you cared, we are able to bear the grief and sorrow--there's less despair.  Because you cared, we are praying, too, for God's richest blessing for each of you.  Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much--whatever the part!

A Light From Our Household

August 1, 2010

The sun rose on January 26, 1964, to behold a beautiful baby girl.  Sylvia Yvonne Weaver, born to the late Elmo Weaver, Sr. and Mrs. Ida Weaver, was the fourth of five siblings.

Sylvia accepted Christ at five years of age and was baptized by the late Pastor C.L. Punch at Zion Hill Baptist Church.  Sylvia attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School under the leadership of the late Sister Geraldine Griffin and Sister Dora Edmondson.

Sylvia attended Houston public schools, graduating from the DeBakey High School for Health Professions in 1982.  She attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston, main campus.  She completed flight attendant school in 2007, working for Pinnacle Airlines for a short time.

In November 1983, Sylvia married Reginald Charlton.  To that union was born Ashley Elaine Charlton Griffin.

On May 12, 1990, Sylvia fell in love and married Damon J. Wilson.  Damon, Sylvia and Ashley relocated to Detroit, Michigan, to begin their life as a family.  To this union was born Morgan Elizabeth Wilson.  The couple traveled extensively and were married for 20 years.

The sun set on July 28, 2010, as Sylvia was called to rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory devoted and compassionate husband Damon J. Wilson of Detroit, Michigan; two daughters, Ashley Charlton Griffin (Warren) of Los Angeles, California, and Morgan Wilson of Detroit, Michigan; loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Ida Weaver of Houston, Texas; one sister, Odessa Ganther; three brothers, Elmo Weaver, Jr. (Alice), Calvin Weaver (Cassandra), Ramsey Weaver (Lonita), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
