Talmadge was born to Thomas and Alice Gunnels, February 10th 1923 at home in Hanover, Texas.Was named after actress Norma Talmadge and his fathers middle name (Pitts)...
Served in WW2 and joined Army Air Corps, and ended up in USAF. ending as a Major then LT.COL.
He was a Bomber pilot,and a Jet Fighter pilot during World War II in the Army Air Corps, and he also served in the Pacific Theatre.(Korea) During his 14 years of military service, he received the Korean Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Victory Medal WWII, Presidential Citation U.S.A. Presidential Citation Philippines, and the Bronze Star.
On March 23, 1945 married Margia Elizabeth Croft from Thomasville Georgia.
On January 20,1946 the only child of Talmadge and Elizabeth.. Tamla Elizabeth Gunnels was born....(Tammy Gunnels Potter)of Fence Lake, New Mexico.
This marriage ened in 1953.
He remarried again In JANUARY 19, 1957 To Alene...She was an awsome Mother to me and stayed that way forever!
This marriage lasted til 1966 and she is still in my life.
He did remarry after Alene but We wont mention That one ever AGAIN!!!!!Horrible woman whose own children wont talk to her.....
My Dad finally relocated in the Brazoria county area of Texas and Lived in Freeport, which he owned his own business, Gunnels Sand Co. until his retirement and he moved to Angleton, Texas until his death from prostate cancer.
Words cannot express the loss I feel and How much I miss him!
