Ted Lamar Hepworth, 86, passed away on October 14, 2016 from cancer (Lymphoma). He was born May 6, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT to Alma Edward (Ted) and Fay Mills Hepworth. Ted attended school in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School in 1948. Ted married his sweetheart, Jewel Marie Mangus, and had 6 wonderful children. Ted was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He attended his kids sporting events and other activities with great pride. He was so nervous and would get so excited that he could hardly breathe.

Throughout his life, Ted excelled in Mechanical Engineering and Pipe Fitting to the delight of friends and neighbors needing something fixed. He loved working with metal, wood, bicycles and cars. Ted "souped-up" and chromed every car he owned. He said he couldn’t help it. Ted restored several cars and trucks to car show trophy winning condition.

After high school, Ted competed in body building winning 2nd place, Most Muscular and Best Back in the 1950 "Mr. Utah" contest. He played guitar and sang for programs at the West Bountiful Ward Amusement Hall where he often "brought down the house".

Ted served in the US Army as a Power Generation & Repair Specialist during the Korean War. The Army recognized his musical talents also and asked him to join the Army’s Special Services Orchestra.

Ted was an industrial equipment mechanic 34 years before appointing himself as the manager at Jewel’s flower shop, Hepworth Floral. Ted and Jewel retired from the floral business in March 1994. Ted and Jewel served at the Bountiful, UT LDS Temple for 11 years.

Ted is survived by his sisters Margie Cook and Connie Baker, his wife Jewel, and his children Brian, Grant, Quinn, Jaynee, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Ted is proceeded in death by his parents, Ted and Fay and two sons, Mike (2012) and Roy (2008).

We’d like to thank all Ted’s doctors, nurses and care givers at the Veterans Medical Center, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Brighton Hospice and the Avalon Care Center. Ted donated his body to the University of Utah Medical School. Services will be held on Saturday October 22, 2016, at 12:00 PM at the Centerville 19th ward meeting house, 900 South 400 East, Centerville, UT. Visiting hour will start at 11:00 AM in the Relief Society room.
