A Great Overcomer!

July 17, 2016

I first met Ted in May of 1989 when my family and I returned to the States after nine years in Thailand. We were staying at my brother's house in Scotts Valley, CA. and he took a bus all the way from Palo Alto(about 40 miles) to welcome and fellowship with us as we didn't know anyone in the area. At that time he was on crutches and was able to get around, but it still was a struggle for him. I admired his faith and dedication to the Lord and his love for others to take the time and effort to come all that way to visit with us. In recent years we have stayed in contact with him and have visited with him several times when on trips to Northern California. We are always inspired by his continued love for the Lord, the Word, missionary work, and others in spite of his circumstances. He will always be remembered by us as a great "overcomer."

Rev. 3:21, "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne."

My brother, my friend.

I already made a post on Facebook today when I heard the shocking news of my brother Ted's passing; I feel, however, that many of you who knew him might have something to say, or a memory to share, about Ted's life. Anything you have to share about him - no matter how small, or seemingly insignificant - will serve as a testament to his life and service to others.

He was a spiritual strength to so many, a master of encouragement, and a "beacon of discipleship" as someone so appropriately noted. His love, positivity and generosity were some of the many wonderful traits that easily dwarfed his tall frame, and he'll be remembered for every kind word and deed - both here, and in his new life with the Lord. Ted was my mentor, and it was his encouragement that started me on the path of a missionary; I would not be who I am now, and where I am now, without him.

If Ted has ever touched your life, then please, do take a moment of your time to share your story. Thank you.
