Her Life

A Brief Biography of Rev. Teju Oni

March 9, 2021
Rev. Eniola Tejumade Oni was born on March 23 1956 to Oba Emmanuel Ogunleye II (the late Elemure of Emure-Ekiti) & Olori Abigail Ogunleye, also of Emure-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Nigeria.

After her primary education, she attended the defunct St. Peter's Secondary Modern School, Emure-Ekiti. Afterwards, she attended Fiwasaiye Girls' Grammar School Akure between 1971 & 1975. She thereafter had her Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 1978 from the Federal Government Girls' College, Benin City. From there, she proceeded to the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in 1982 while her Masters Degree (in Guidance & Counselling) was in 1986 from the University of Ibadan.

Teju Oni had a stint with the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission before proceeding to lecture at The Polytechnic Ibadan (Department of General Studies).

It was from here, in 1996, she resigned to respond to God's call upon her life to go into full time Ministry.

Teju Oni was passionate about families - the sanctity & preservation of Christian homes & families. And this, she sought to ensure via the establishment of His Praise Ministries in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Teju Oni met with the Lord her Saviour during the course of her studies at Fiwasaiye Girls' Grammar School. This indepth relationship continued throughout the entire course of her life - through the Evangelical Christian Union (ECU, OAU) to His Praise Ministries and she stayed true, faithful & committed to Him till the very end.

Not only was Teju Oni a mother, wife, sister, a mother-in-Israel, a certified family counsellor, an author of many titles such as: Daughters of Zion, Pot of Treasures, There is a Season..., Abigail, etc (spanning across different phases of marital life & fulfilment), she was an ordained minister of God via the laying on of hands of the Presbytery in 2009.

She was called home to be with her Lord & Saviour on Sunday 28 February, 2021.

She will be sorely missed by her husband, Deacon Rotimi Oni, her children, grandchildren and the entire household of faith but our consolation is in the fact that we will meet at Jesus's feet on the resurrection morning.

Teju Oni has run her race, she has finished her course, she has kept the faith, Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
