Doug,

Remembering you on your birthday.. Your warm heart, your comforting smile, your laugh, and the way you always lit up a room, and really made people feel loved, important and good about themselves. I'm greatful our pathes crossed in life. You enriched my life being my friend, someone I looked up to and always looked forward to seeing again. Your Love for God and Mankind were beyond measure. Your someone I'll always remember, try to be more like, you were an awesome man Doug. I hope your enjoying the beauty of heaven, riding horses, drinking from springs, and just loving your surroundings like you did here on Earth. Hope to see you again someday Doug. I'm certain the legacy you left here on Earth will never be forgotten.

Doug and I worked together for a while back in the 90's and new each
other in the Home Improvement Industry. I always had a lot of respect
and admiration for Doug. He always handled himself well and was very
spiritual. He is and will be missed.

" I've been everywhere " Doug saw the world, loved life, and enjoyed everyday the lord gave him. Even in his dying days he thought of others. I'll never forget going to the hospitial to see him, and he introduced me to the staff as a neat guy. That touched my heart, and will be a memory I'll always hold on to. Going to miss you buddy. may you rest in peace, it was an honor to know you.

Doug was a very special man, he touched alot of lives in a positive way. I'm really going to miss his smile, and warmth he always brought to a room, it was never a party till Doug got there. I'll miss the stories of his travels and experiences. I learned alot from Doug, and knowing him made me want to be a better person. When I think of Doug and his travels, I think of that Jonny Cash song

I only knew Doug from church, but that was enough to recognize that he was a Godly, beautiful man. To me, he will always be the "Yellow Glove" man Love and prayers to his family..

Wow....what can I say about a man EVERYONE loved so much including me.  He was not only my Brother in Law he was my best friend. He frequently gave his undying love and word of encouragement when I needed them most.  I have known this man since I was 6 years old.  Now at 6 he was not one of my favorite people (he knew this) LOL he locked my in my closet so he and Regina could make out.  True story.....but Doug always denied it.  Even beyond that..... words cannot describe what a wonderful christian he was.  He would have given you his last dollar if you needed it. He had the sweet calling that only came from God above and shared Jesus to anyone who would listen.  I will miss that. Doug taught me so much over the 49 years I have known him.  He taught me what true kindness was....he taught me how to walk with Jesus.....even when I didn't listen.  He would call me one of the 3 stubborn Miller girls.  That we were. Doug....I am so glad you are out of pain and with our Lord and savior.  I will love and miss you but I will I see you again in Heaven.  I am selfish and wish you were with us but obviously God needed you more. Regina, Matt and Brian...Judy and Bob and all his many friends......I am so sorry for your lose but you will see him again very soon.  I love you all!!!  Douglas Terry Purkey thank you for everything you did for me and my family.  I love you and Regina more than words can say.  I will see you soon my brother.  I love you......Subee

The greatest friend a man could have...

Doug Purkey will remain my friend for eternity. His kindness to me and my family has long surpassed any possible way of reciprocation. He taught me how to sell... He taught me how to give back to society... He taught me how to sow kindness into the lives of others. Doug has made it his mission in life to speak louder, try harder and reach farther for The Kingdom of God than most would ever understand. His commitment to Jesus Christ and the redemption of His lost sheep is only surpassed by the love he held for his family. Matt and Brian were his life! And his lovely Regina his closest friend... Beyond our loss.... Beyond our tears... Beyond the last memory... You will always be my friend... and I'll miss you more than words can tell... Jay Gillis
