Terry Curtis Brock was born October 8, 1949 in Tacoma to Kenneth Curtis and Emily Eleanor (Crawford) Brock.  He left this world surrounded by the love of his family on June 4, 2015, following a brief illness.  Terry attended Pt. Defiance and Lowell Elementary Schools, Jason Lee Middle School, and Stadium and Curtis High Schools, graduating from Curtis.  He earned his associates degree at Shoreline Community College, and also attended the UW. 

As an aerial lineman for “Ma Bell”, he “climbed every pole on the Olympic Peninsula.”  He spent many adventurous years as a truck driver and finally worked for the City of Tacoma, where he was a self-proclaimed “asphalt artist” and pothole “patch-master.”  Terry wished to be remembered as a “character,” a description certainly befitting this charismatic, headstrong, extraordinary man.  
Terry survived critical injuries in a car wreck in 2002 that, in addition to multiple sclerosis, forced him into an early retirement from the City.  However, he went on to marry Diane (Weiberg) Sexton in 2004, who provided love, laughter, and support through the hardest chapter of his life.  For the past three years, Terry has struggled with complications from MS and the brain injury suffered in the wreck.  He fought long and hard, beating the odds several times.  

Terry is survived by Diane, cherished daughters Saranade Brock and Amber Brock, and proud stepson Jason.  He is also survived by his sister Linda Zook, who knew and loved him the longest;  his brother Bill Garl, with whom he shared countless hours of laughter;  his former wife Ava Brock, whose continued relationship he treasured;  by his stepchildren Feather, Naomi and Jay;  several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.  He was preceded in death by a sister Suzanne Garl, his "Folks", and his beloved dog Hank. 

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Drs. Sutherland, Stringfellow and Huddlestone, all the wonderful people at Allenmore Hospital and ManorCare of Tacoma for their outstanding care over the years and especially to Jhing and Beth of Madison Manor adult family home for their warm and exceptional tending of Terry, and the unforgettable Seahawks parties! 

A memorial celebration of Terry’s life will be held August 30th at 1pm at The Swiss Pub in Tacoma.  In lieu of flowers, Terry would be proud if a donation to the MS Society was made in his honor.
