Impromptu photo shoot

March 13, 2014

I did not know Thea very well, but the few times I met her she exuded happiness and kindness. I got the sense that she effortlessly brightened the moments she occupied.
My favorite memory of Thea was a day in the early '90s during an impromptu photo shoot with Thea, Celina and one of Thea's friends at small house in Carmel. It was on San Carlos Street if my memory serves me.
Celina and I had stopped by to visit for a bit and I noticed an old bathtub in the yard. I always had a camera with me loaded with film (those were the days of film) and I asked Thea and Celina and Thea's friend if they would hop into the tub for some zany pictures. Needless to say they were up for it. It was difficult to get them to sit still. They were laughing and Thea was nibbling on pizza-like food between laughs.
I took a series of shots during their fun induced mayhem.
After looking at the photos, I am glad Thea and the girls did not sit still because it captures the moment and magic much better than a forced pose. Every time I look at the photos from that day I can not help but smile. They are some of my favorite pictures.
The last time I saw Thea was a few years ago at the Feast of Lanterns fireworks show in Pacific Grove.
My condolences and heartfelt sympathy go out to her family and friends and anyone else lucky enough to have been graced with her kind and fun spirit, be it for a day, a month, years or just a few moments.

When we were young

February 12, 2014
My most vibrant memory of Thea was when I was attending Carmel Valley High School. We used to sit on the basketball court and argue about who the coolest bands were and Thea would always school me in what I knew. I was quite fond of her because she had an intimidating personality and I was drawn towards her take no shit attitude, she was like one of the guys. As time went on I saw less and less of her around town. Soon, I never saw her. I always thought about her and wondered what she was doing or what she was up to. I finally saw her at Monterey Farmers market, but after all those years I didn't know how to approach her, that was two years ago, Maybe three, Now I really wish I would of stopped her, I wish I could of found the words, there was so much catching up to do, maybe in our next life. I'm sorry to all that loved her and the people she touched. She was an extraordinary person.

Text vocabulary

February 10, 2014

Today, I was texting Amy about Thea.  And I looked down and the phone, had placed the following instead of Theadora, it put "the adorable".
