Obituary for Thelma May (Trussell) Churchill

February 21, 1924 – November 11, 2015

Thelma May (Trussell) Churchill, formerly of Nampa, Idaho, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on November 11, 2015 at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon.  She was 91.

A Public Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at Nampa First Christian Church, located at 619 12th Avenue South in Nampa, Idaho. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery.

Thelma was born February 21, 1924 in Neligh, Nebraska, to Moses and Alice (Philippi) Trussell. In 1936, she, along with her parents, three sisters and two brothers moved to Homedale, Idaho. In 1942, she married Thomas “Pete” Churchill and had one daughter, Ettia Mae. In 1957 they moved to Nampa, where they lived for 43 years. In 2000, she moved to Bend, Oregon to be closer to her daughter and family.

Thelma is survived by her sister, Ida Hardy of Eagle, ID, son-in-law Lonnie Canning of  Bend, OR; two granddaughters, Cheryl (husband Rick) Benitez and Mari (husband Brad) Jacobson, also of Bend, OR; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Pete” Churchill, daughter Ettia Mae; two sisters and two brothers.

Thelma will be laid to rest beside the love of her life, Pete. Family is invited to return to the church for light meal afterwards.
