Thelma Bowling Morris, 93, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away, Thursday, September 21, 2012.

A native of Durham County, the widow of Luther R. Morris of 76 years and the daughter of the late Thomas and Bettie Taylor Bowling.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  She was a loving Mother, a friend to all and she loved all children.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Williams.  Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Mildred Hayes of Creedmoor, Judy R. Stone (Roosevelt) of Virgilina, Va., three sons, Donnie Morris (Ann), Dale Morris (Linda), Stevie Morris (Ginger), all of Rougemont, a sister, Virginia Jones of Oxford, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by four children, Sarah M. McGhee, Calvin, Vexter, Bobby Morris, 3 grandchildren, Scottie and Barry Morris and Randy McGhee.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the family home.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be sent to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 551 George Sherman Road, Rougemont, North Carolina 27572.

Mildred, I am so very sorry to hear about Thelma. It's been a journey that should be admired and looked back on as a successful and happy one. You all are blessed and lucky to have had great parents and they a great family. Terry Lunsford

Mildred, I just heard you lost your Mom. As someone who lost her Mom ten years ago, the loss is always with you but the memories of the good times will ease the pain. Thinking of you.
