APRIL 1982, as a young Air Force Officer a long way from home and family Thelma welcomed me to the medical unit where I was assigned, and she immediately calmed my anxiety with her comforting smile, jovialness, and reassurance that I was not a stranger but part of the team. Thelma became my friend and mentor from that first day at Wright Patterson AFB. We laughed and had fun at work and so many memorial fun times at her home, where again, no one was a stranger, everyone was family. While there in Dayton, Thelma always made me a German Chocolate or rum cake for my birthday. God's heavenly garden now has another beautiful eternal flower. Love ya and will miss talking to you Thelma. Rest in Heaven.
