It’s been a year since I’ve seen your face, heard your voice, or seen you smile. There is not a day that goes by I don’t think about you; things are not the same without you, but I know you are in better place now. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey. Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower, we will grieve not; rather find strength in what remains behind. I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death; they continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. We all miss you and love you very much Uncle Boo Boo!! See you when I get there!

Love your niece,

Read Greg's story first, dated 2/17/12, about Halloween candy

Greg, I think Dennis was probably off somewhere eating Halloween candy! I think he got the biggest dose of castor oil when we all got home from Trick or Treating that night.

Fond School Day Memories

February 18, 2012

I have the fondest memories of you coming into Mr. Estep's classroom to get the house key from me wearing those suspenders.Ma said wearing those suspenders would make you have broad shoulders and she was right.I sure could use a pair of those suspenders now! I always wondered how you managed to graduate from High School without ever bringing one book home from school.Thank you for finally sharing with me the fact that you kept one set of books at school and another set at home!No one else would have thought of that but you Boo-Boo.

I got robbed (that same night probably) right on the track between your house & Miss Irene. I think Puff or Pluck Mathew & Tolly Campbell (my cousin) was invovled also.  By the way, where was Dennis that evening?

An uncanny childhood

February 16, 2012

Ok Boo-Boo:Remember when you fell in the ditch while riding your bike, after Ma and Daddy gave you beer,(per doctor's orders), in order to fatten you up.Oh, by the way, I got in trouble for not watching you and I was the one that got fat!Oh,and the time we both came home at 2am and I was the one that got in trouble.Daddy said it was ok for you to come home that time of the morning because you were a MAN.Really Boo-Boo:I WAS 17 AND YOU WERE 13!How about when they stole your Trick or Treat bag because you wandered away from me, humming as usual.Boo-Boo,I stood in a crowded circle of 20 ''hard heads'' demanding my brother's Trick or Treat bag! By the way, Ma said cousin Carlos took your bag of candy! ''I would gladly go through it all over and over again because you're my baby brother. I LOVE YA AND I MISS YA.Thank you for being you.

Funny Times!

February 13, 2012

I was just talking with Wende' how when we would come and visit you, and you had that cell phone glued to your hands...you even fell asleep with it until the battery went dead! We still couldn't figure out how in the world you even saw what you were looking at because the screen was soooo small....lol The phone looked like it was practically touching your nose.

Even though it wasn't funny then when it happened...but we were able to laugh about it later, when you almost burned the house down. What possessed you to put a pan of greese on the stove and turn the burner on high, ask to borrow my car to run to the store to get some flour...but failed to tell me you had something on the stove...after all was over Uncle Dennis bought you a miniature fire extinguisher! It was just perfect to fit on your belt buckle...I thought that was just too cute. Even though you gave me the "knucle sandwich" look  ;o)

A Very Gentle Man

February 11, 2012

I will always think of Boo Boo as a caring and gentle man.  He was very devoted to his family and truly enjoyed spending time with them.  He never hesitated to lend a helping hand.  I can remember on several occasions when he stepped-in to help me - from delivering seafood to quench my cravings - to helping out with groceries and transportation when I did not have either - to providing Sean with a roof over his head when he needed it.  One of my favorite memories is when he went out his way to lift my spirits by taking me and Kia to see a Star Trek movie that had just come out; because, I am sure he was not a big Star Trek fan, I was.  Boo Boo always had a smile and a kind word to give you.  We will miss him greatly.

I Miss You!!

February 11, 2012

Hey Uncle Boo-Boo,

I miss you very very much! Words can not explain how i feel rite now. This was all 2 sudden; I can't believe that you are gone, I can't believe that you are not here with me, but i understand that it was your time and God wanted you home. It will be hard to live life without you, seeing your big smile, how you stare at your phone when you are texting (blind as a bat)...lol, and all of your lectures about life. You were more than just Uncle Boo-Boo, you was like a father to us and many of my friends. I love you, and I will see you again one day.
