Selfless, kind & compassionate

April 3, 2021
Dad was the most kind caring compassionate person that you could meet. He had the biggest heart and touched the lives of each and every person he met. He always looked after everyone and treated them as part of the family. From friends in Athur, Tibby, Vicky, Glen & Paula, Tony, Casper Stuart, Ray Carne and many others who became FAMILY. To our partners Paul & Steph who he welcomed into the family with open arms and treated as his own son and daughter. That was the kind of man my dad was, warm, inviting and ......

Everyone knew Tommy and loved him for his warmth and wit. There was nothing dad wouldn’t do for anyone. Literally dropping what he was doing at any given moment to help someone out.

One summer I remember our Michael had been
on holiday, met a bunch of Glaswegians and made friends with them. Months passed and one day Michael got a phone call they had turned up in Manchester out of the blue for the football and had nowhere to stay. Without hesitation me dad said they can come and stay at ours. There was four Glaswegians sleeping on our living room floor, dad up all night talking and drinking with them having such a laugh. Dad said he had one of the best times then...

Dick & Dom ‘Bogies’

April 3, 2021
When I was younger I remember I used to watch the kids tv programme Dick and Dom. There was a segment in it called ‘Bogies’ where they would play against each other daring one another to shout out bogies in public places. Me and Dad loved watching it. We thought it was hilarious! So low and behold from that week on me and dad when we went out shopping would play ‘Bogies’ and laugh our heads off when people would turn round. I think Dad loved playing the game more than me!

Dad was silly and that’s what we loved about him. If it wasn’t playing silly games with me it was dressing up at the club with Jimmy, wearing my pirate hat and making us laugh. What I would do for one more silly moment with him...

Peter Kay Lookalike

April 3, 2021
I remember once Lesley and Jimmy had got us tickets to go and see Mrs Browns Boys. So me, my mum and Dad went along. Really excited for the show. We’d heard whispers that Peter Kay was in the audience watching that night so we was all excited to spot him and maybe get a cheeky selfie with him. Just before the show started I remember someone approaching Dad and tapping him on the shoulder. He turned around and the guy said

‘Hi Peter mate! Can I get a picture with you! I loved you in Phoenix Nights!’

It was hilarious! Dad got mistaken for Peter Kay when the actual Peter Kay was in the room.

Grumpy lovable Grandad

April 3, 2021
Dad always loved to play Mr Grumpy. But everyone knew that really he had the biggest softest warmest heart. We would wind him up and jokingly call him Scrooge, but ultimately he was the most amazing kindest, selfless man you could ever meet. He would do anything for anyone. Full of compassion and kindness. He played the grumpy grandad role well and I’ll miss him going ‘how much!’ When I mention something. You’ll always be our victor meldrew in the sky dad

Working with Dad at the MEN

April 3, 2021
When I was younger, Dad used to work as a van driver for the Manchester Evening News. I used to see him delivering papers everyday and think wow that looks cool. Dad used to do the airport run. I imagined how fun it would be delivering newspapers around the airport, seeing the planes, watching everyone about to go on their holidays, the MOVING ESCALATORS!!

So I would purposely feel sick so I didn’t have to go in school and could go to work with Dad for the day, being a van driver with him. We used to have the best days ever! He would let me count up the papers needed for each delivery, and actually take them in the shops. My favourite was when he would drop me at the terminal I would take the newspapers on my trolley across the moving escalators, deliver them then meet him at the next terminal. I felt like such a grown up, and dad used to love us doing the job together, spending time with each other. We would have key 103 blaring sometimes my backstreet boys cd too. Then it was always topped off with a McDonald’s after we had finished! They literally were the best times of my life. So much fun! I miss spending time with dad so badly!

Christmas with Dad

April 3, 2021
Every Christmas and birthday without fail when it came to opening presents Dad would pick the present up, shake it and tell you exactly what it was before he even opened it. “Maltesers!” “Socks!” You would hear him shout. It kind of became a family tradition every year. You could buy dad the most flashy expensive gifts in the world but not being ungrateful he didn’t want for that. He wasn’t materialistic and would love nothing more than Christmas Day and birthdays opening his presents, getting his Maltesers and socks and spending it with his loving family which he adored.

The perfect Christmas! ♥️
