Agnes Evans (Leistad) and Thomas Evans had their first of five children on Tuesday, June 19th, 1934 in Elkhorn Iowa. Thomas Curtis weighed in at a solid 10 lbs and was followed by siblings Jane, Barbara, Kent and Lynn. Elkhorn was home until they made the journey to California and landed in Palo Alto. Curt remained close to his aunts, uncles and cousins in Iowa and looked forward to his occasional visits back “home” where they could all gather on the farm. He attended Palo Alto high school where he made many long lasting friends.
While serving in the Army which took him to Tacoma, Washington he began his family with the birth of his first son, Jeffrey Curtis in 1958. The family then settled in San Jose, California where Craig William (1961) and Cynthia Marie (1962) were born. Christopher Michael (1971) and Scott Ryan (1973-1975) were born after he moved to Aptos, California. He was so proud of all of his children.
Curt made his living through the years in sales and as a beloved bartender where he was revered by the community. His sense of humor and story telling ability created lifelong friendships. Over the years, he and his wife Joan (Cayes), who were married in 1992, enjoyed travels, sporting events, dining, and socializing with family and the many friends they made. Curt loved spending time with his brothers and sisters, golfing, traveling to the North East especially New Hampshire and being with his beloved grandchildren.
Curt is survived by his loving wife Joan, his four children, Jeff, Craig, Cynthia and Chris, his 4 grandsons, Bryan, Ian, Eric and Dylan and his great granddaughter Kenzie. Forever missed will the man who was the exuberant, bright shining light known to us as husband, father, confidant, papa, brother, and uncle and known to all as friend.
