THOMAS ARTIS GREEN, “LIL BRO” as he was called by many, was born on July 4, 1943, to the late Mrs. Artley Dansby Green and the late Mr. James Green in Hogansville, Georgia. He was the fifth of eleven children born to that union. In addition to his parents several family members preceded in death: Three brothers-Morris (Horace’s twin), Ronald and Willie James; One sister-Janie Ruth; Mother and Father in law-Florence and Hayward McCullough, Sr; Three sisters in law-Carrie Crenshaw, College Park, GA, Mary Davis and Johnnie Mayberry, both of Ypsilanti, MI; and, Three brothers in law-Carey McCullough, LaGrange, GA; Floyd Culberson, Atlanta, GA and Rev. W. E. Geter, Hogansville, GA.

Thomas graduated from West End High School with the Class of 1961. After graduating from high school he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked with his father at the Georgia Department of Administrative Services, Surplus Properties. Thomas volunteered to join the United States Army and enlisted on January 18, 1963, where he earned the rank of Sergeant E-5, Good Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooter-Rifle Certification, and numerous other recognitions during his years of enlistment. He left the army with an honorable discharge on January 17, 1966. After returning home from the service, he held various jobs before joining the Atlanta Police Department in 1974. During his time with the police department, Thomas earned the rank of Detective in the DEA Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Investigations Department. He served twenty years with the police department, retiring in 1994. Thomas also worked for Carrier Dispatch Company where he served as a driver delivering drugs to various drug stores in Metro Atlanta and South Georgia.

Thomas was one of the comedians in the family along with his late brother, Willie James, whom he said was his best friend in the whole-wide world. They could really make you laugh until you cried! He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and shooting pool.

While Thomas was in the military, he met the love of his life, Martha McCullough, and they were united in holy matrimony on November 22, 1969; to this union one daughter was born.

John), Riverdale, GA, Gale Romans (Clarence), City of South Fulton, GA, and Sharon Stembridge (Rev. Charlie F) Fairburn, GA; One step sister, Sandra Smith, Larry); Three grandsons: Tevin Williams and Jadarrelle Stanford, Atlanta, GA and Jamal Burston, Hogansville, GA; Two granddaughters: Sasha and Aleyce Burston, Hogansville, GA; Two sisters in law: Ernestine McCullough, LaGrange, GA and Annie Adams, Atlanta, GA; Three Brothers in law: Rogland McCullough, LaGrange, GA, Hayward McCullough, Jr. (Gladys), Union City, GA, Kenneth McCullough, Fairburn, GA; One Aunt, Connie Dansby; Special Friends, James, Milton, Nathan, Jeri, Queen, Joe, Sylvester, Arthur, Walt and Ricky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
