OUR FATHER,OUR GRANDFATHER,OUR FRIEND

THOMAS H. MORSELL SON OF THE LATE CHARLES W. MORSELL AND BLANCHE RAY MORSELL.DAD ATTENDED PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN CALVERT COUNTY, MARYLAND.AT AN EARLY AGE HE EXPRESSED A DESIRE AND A LOVE FOR FARMING, HE ENJOYED PLANTING TOMATOES, KALE, CORN, GREEN BEANS AND HE WAS AN EXCELLENT FARMER HE ENJOYED PLANTING TOBACCO WHICH WAS HIS MOST PRIZED CROP.HE LATER DEVELOPED HIS SKILLS IN MASONRY AND BEGAN WORKING WITH HIS BROTHER DUNBAR.DURING WORLD WAR II DAD WAS EMPLOYED BY THE POTT & KELLUM CONSTRUCTION COMPANY WHERE HE ASSISTED IN LAYING THE GROUNDWORK FOR THE PENTAGON IN WASHINGTON, DC. DAD WORKED IN BALTIMORE MARYLAND AT THE SHIPPING YARD.HE WENT ON TO WORK AS A GARDENER FOR THE KENSINGTON NURSING HOME LOCATED IN KENSINGTON, MD WHERE HE WAS FONDLY LOVED BY EVERYONE THERE FOR KEEPING THE GROUNDS BEAUTIFUL HE GREW THE MOST PRETTIEST ROSES. DAD WAS A HARD WORKER HE WAS NEVER ONE FOR JUST SITTING AROUND, AFTER RETIRING FROM THE NURSING HOME IN THE  EARLY 80'S HE CONTINUED TO FARM AND RAISE TOBACCO UNTIL HIS HEALTH BEGAN TO FAIL. YOU COULD ALWAYS FIND DAD UNDER THE BIG TREE TELLING OLD STORIES, SCHOOLING THE LITTLE ONES AND THE OLD ONES ON THE FAMILY GENEALOGY, REMINISCING ABOUT THE PAST, DISCUSSING WORLD WAR II AND HIS 3 BROTHERS GOING OFF TO WAR AND HIM REMAINING BEHIND TO HELP HIS FATHER AND MOTHER TEND TO THE FARM.HE ALWAYS ASPIRED TO BE LIKE HIS BROTHERS TO WEAR THE UNIFORM  AND SERVE HIS COUNTRY NEVER KNOWING THAT HE WAS OUR SOLDIER AND HERO.HE LOVED TO CONVERSATE AND BE AMONGST FAMILY AND FRIENDS, HE HAD MANY NICK NAMES : OLD MAN, CHILLI-MAN,AND COOL POPPA WERE A FEW. HE LOVED TO WEAR HATS, PLAY THE GUITAR, AND MODEL HIS LEATHER COATS.IN 1946 MY DAD MARRIED MY MOTHER LOUISE HOLLAND MORSELL FROM THIS BLESSED UNION WERE BORN 13 CHILDREN SHARLYN BRISCOE,JUDY MACKALL, LINDA  WALLACE, ANGELA MORSELL, ALLISON OFFORD, THOMAS E. MORSELL, RONNIE MORSELL, RICKIE MORSELL, LIONEL  MORSELL, KELVIN MORSELL, CRAIG  MORSELL, MARILYN  MORSELL(DECEASED) AND RENEE MORSELL (DECEASED).DAD HAD A VERY SERIOUS DEMEANOR, YET A HEART SO FULL OF LOVE AND GENEROSITY. HE REQUIRED SO LITTLE BUT HE GAVE SO MUCH.SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SISTER ANGELA WHO LOVINGLY CARED FOR OUR FATHER DURING HIS ILLNESS BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY TO BE WITH GOD THE FAMILY IS FOREVER GRATEFUL THANKS SIS.
