His Life

He was born on Sunday, May 24, 1931, the son of the late Lucille Paige Lott and Robert Lott. Thomas was a long time member of Roper Heights Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the choir and in any other capacity he was needed. He was loved and appreciated by his church family. Thomas joined the Marine Corp right out of high school where he served 21 years before retiring. During the time he served in the Marines he spent time in the Philippines, Korea and Vietnam before finishing his military career in West Palm Beach, Fl. Upon his retirement he moved back to West Point where he raised his family and worked for Johnston Industries until 1998. He spent much of his time in youth sports coaching and umpiring baseball. Later in his life he found a new passion in “Carpenters for Christ” where he served his lord for seven years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Juanita Richardson Lott the mother of their 2 sons. Also by his brothers Richard (Millie) Lott, Walter (Linda) Lott, Bobby Jean Lott and sisters Nancy (Pete) Hurst and Doris Brumfield. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Lucy Thomason Lott; 2 sons Samuel Byrd Lott and David (Danette) Lott; 2 stepsons, Andrew C. (Lisa) Dodgen and David (Melanie) Dodgen. He is survived by one sister Francis Belleview and 4 brothers Reuben (Susie) Lott, John (Dianne) Lott, Charlie (Jane) Lott and Joe (Carolyn) Lott and 3 grandchildren Whitney Lott, Mitchell Lott and Amanda Lott Meacham; 7 step grandchildren , Andrew (Amber) Dodgen, Alex (Emily) Dodgen, Ben Dodgen, Kindall Dodgen, Jesse Dodgen, Travis Dodgen and Logan Dodgen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a special caretaker Becky Mittong.
