Tim Cannons -LIFE

December 28, 2022
Tim Cannon - Lead Guitar and Vocals: Founder and band leader, was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Dallas as a child. He was raised in and around Dallas and Houston. He received his first guitar when he was 11 and quickly took to playing. His first rock band was called Hooker when he was about 19. His first blues band was called The Informers when he was 24. They had the first blues style of dress before Dan Akroyd and John Belushi with the dark sunglasses and the hats. Next he formed TC and the Cannonballs which included drummer Uncle John Turner who played on Johnny Winter’s first album. Tim’s brother-in-law played with Jimmy and Stevie Ray in a band called Texas Storm. That was Doyle Bramhall Senior and he gave Tim his first Freddie King record. It would be Doyle who would help co-write most of Stevie Ray’s material. Tim would be uncle to his child Doyle Bramhall II. TC and the Cannonballs would open for many distinguished blues acts such as Stevie Ray Vaughan at his album release party for “Texas Flood”, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Albert King, Jack Mack and the Heart Attack, The Texas Tornadoes, Los Lobos, Room Full of Blues, John Hammond, The Nighthawks, Delbert McClinton, Buddy Guy, Joey Long, and Tim has played with Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, I.P. Sweat and Billy Gibbons to name a few. The band has had several different line ups but the current roster which is Tim Cannon (lead guitar/lead vocals), Mike Scott (Bass), Mark Schumman (drums/vocals) and Mike Reed (saxophones) has been together for several years.
Recent stories

Teen Tim

January 12
We met in high school and when his parents moved to Houston from Lubbock he stayed with me at my parents. We went on to not finish school and hitchhike back and forth several times. While in Lubbock he would practice a crummy guitar for hours. Really dedicated! We were good friends but drifted. I had a story about him and ketchup that makes me think of him every time I have french fries. So sad to know he passed. Talked to him a few times over the years but don’t wait til you’re 70 to look up a loved friend.
