Thomas Hampton Newton, 84, a resident of 8465 Hicksboro Road passed away Tuesday, February 8th at his home.
 
A native of Vance County, the son of the late George Haley and Mary Ella Twisdale Newton. He was a member of Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church, a WWII Veteran, Seaman First Class and a retired farmer. He loved his family and was a true outdoorsman.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 10th in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Chad Holtz. Burial will be in Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bullock.
 
Surviving are his wife of sixty-four years, Bessie Tingen Newton of the home, two daughters, Delores N. Jones of Bullock, Diane N. Williamson of Clarksville, VA., a son, Garrett “Gary” Thomas Newton of Oxford, a sister, Barbara Ann Hinton of Spring Hope, a brother, John Marshall Newton of Oxford, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Carol Propst and Jacolyn Claiborne, three brothers, George Haley Newton, James Yancey Newton, Donald Gray Newton and two grandchildren, George Edward Williamson and Danny Wayne Propst.
 
Visitation 7:00-8:30 PM Wednesday evening, February 9th at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.
