Early Life: Tom was born the youngest of 13 children on January 28, 1933, in Eureka, Utah, to Joseph A. and Margaret Glen Gagon. At the young age of nine, Tom learned the value of a hard and honest work ethic when his father passed away and he started his first paper route. Tom graduated from Provo High School. Life's Work/Service/Interests: Tom went on to work in San Diego at the aircraft plant with his friends. Upon returning to Utah, Tom met the love of his life, Verlene Stubbs; they were married on May 20, 1955, in Provo, Utah. Blessed with two children, Greg and Polly, during their 61 years together. Tom worked as an Instrument Fitter in the pipe trades for 36 years at Johnson Controls. Later, he went on to retire and spent 20 winters with his wife in the Arizona desert which they both loved and cherished. Tom and his wife took great pride in their yard and loved to work on it together, which showed when they received the Orem Beautification Award, twice. Tom was a member of the Elks, an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping and hunting and shared his great love for the outdoors with his family. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was well known for being humble, hardworking and kind. Thomas Richard "Tom" Gagon, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. He was 83.
