The son of the late Leonard and Christine Evans Wright, Mr. Wright was a native of Columbus, GA and member of Nazareth Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and also retired from Civil Services at Ft. Benning, GA following 15 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 267.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Hill.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Rachel Hamilton Wright; two sons, Rodney C. Wright (Alecia) and Jeffery R. Brown; two grandchildren, Langston H. Wright and Dezhan S. Morgan (Sin'ead); two great grandchildren, Xiomara and Xylia Morgan; two brothers, John D. X. Wright and Charles H. Wright (Louise); one sister, Dr. Rose Willis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
