Mom

June 25, 2021
I have so many stories to tell about mom. One of my favorite memories is the sandwich smashing at grandma Donna’s trailer on South Lake. All the sisters were there and for some reason each of them took turns smashing a sandwich, laughing and carrying on like it was the funniest thing in the world and at that very moment it truly was the funniest moment ever!

All the trips to Terre Haute from Newburgh blaring the radio to cover of the lack of muffler on the car so mom could see our Terre Haute family that she cherished so much. Then she upgraded her car and we went on a trip to see aunt Dar in Memphis I swear she would travel endless to see her family.

The guitar and the old country songs will never leave me. I swear she would have played until her fingers bleed. The religious songs she held so close to her heart. I believe she had a direct connection with the other side through music.

You are forever in my heart Tillie Belle.
I love you more

Thoughts and memories of my Aunt Tillie

May 30, 2021
Kelley - Thank you for starting this page. I loved your beautiful mom very much. She was a sweet aunt with a wonderful smile and one of the best laughs.
Here are a few thoughts and memories:
She often observed people quietly with focused eyes and a slight smile like she was trying to figure out what they were thinking or what they were all about.
I remember listening to her sing and wishing she sang more often. She had a beautiful voice.
Once when she was staying with us when I was a child, she opened the refrigerator and said, "We don't need to refrigerate all these boxes." She threw away the boxes the butter tub, cheese and other food items were in. I thought, "Wow, she's smart." It's a memory that has stuck with me my whole life, especially when I unpack groceries and put them in the refrigerator. (without the boxes).
I'm happy my mom and I got to spend a few days with her in April. We had so much fun. When her and her sisters got together, there was always much laughter. I have a great video of Tillie belly laughing while Dar pushed my mom around in a rolling chair in our hotel room in April. You can't help to laugh with her. She seemed happy and healthy then, just a few weeks before she died.
The world will not be as bright and beautiful with her gone. Love to you and your siblings.
