Always There

October 3, 2013

Dad is the greatest man ever! He was loving, kind, and patient. He taught me so many things that it is hard to remember a specific story. I just know that if I had a problem, I could always talk to dad. Sometimes his answer was your the only one who can make that decision, but he always listened and offerred another view to a situation. Dad taught me to drive, change my tire, check my oil, how to cook, so many things, band most important, how to bowl.

It will be hard to go on without you.

I love you.

A very good friend from our youth

September 30, 2013

Tim and I met at Crystal Lake the summer of 1957 as he was going to Northwestern. We wrote and dated till the spring of 1959. He was going  to work off shore that summer. So we broke off. As I was getting ready for my  senior year in Mansfield that fall. He was one of the nicest guys that I have
ever know. A perfect gentleman. I have thought of him often. Hoping he
would come to a Laffitte Reunion. It was strange as I was a Laffitte from Carmel and he was a LaFitte from Logansport. So we never dreamed that there could be any connection. Until I got deep into geneaolgy. I got to know his mom & dad-when they were in the nursing home in Mansfield. I know he has been a great husband and dad. My thoughts and prayers are with the family . I know he will be greatly missed. I will miss the fact that we never got to see each other again. Now that was just as friends. Friends forever.
Love and Prayers, Kathy Laffitte Snelling

The Lake

September 30, 2013

For me the best memory I have of Papaw was when he would call me and my cousin Alicia telling us to pack up for the lake. One day all of us were out fishing on his boat for bass, and while Alicia had a good day and caught one, I was not so lucky. Just when my line was moving and I thought I had finally caught a bass, I pulled on my pole and had the suprise of my life. Instead of catching a bass I ended up catching a catfish!!! I can still remember the look on Papaws face that said how in the heck did you do that?
He was the best Grandpa a kid could hope for patient, understanding, and willing to do anything for us. He taught me how to maintain a car, how to drive, to fix pretty much anything around the house, to fish, he drove me to school, and the store when i needed something. He was a great man and I know we are all going to miss him very much.

My Biggest Fan

September 30, 2013

Our parents are our biggest fans but my fondest memory is from Softball.

Dad was at almost every practice, every game and every tournament.   He taught me how to catch, hit and throw a ball and how to keep my "head in the game"

One game I was getting some really bad calls from the umpire.  Dad was in the stands verbally expressing his disagreement with the umpire so much that he almost got thrown out.  Embarrassed at the time but now I smile everytime I think about it.

Thank you Dad for your support and for being my biggest fan!
