Timothy Oyeleke was born on August 10, 1943 to Mosaku and Louisa Oladokun. From day one he was touted as a strong and intelligent baby. Through his formative years, he was enrolled in Holy Cross Primary School in Ikire where he showcased his intelligence be receiving a double promotion. By age 10, Leke was heavily involved in the Catholic Church of Ikire and became an alter boy. Several years later, he enrolled in a Catholic Seminary to become a Catholic preiest. During his teenage years, Leke left the seminary and enrolled at St. Augustine's Secondary Modern School in Ikire. WIth a yearning to be a life long learner, went on to attend Gramamer School in Ile Ife, Gbongan Grammar School and Fatima College. All of which he earned a certificate or diploma. Over the years, educationally, he also earned Associates of Arts & Science, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts in Exceptional Child Psychology and a Ph.D. in Educational Pyschology. As a life long learner, he held many continuing education certificates, licenses and authored many articles spanning four decades.
Leke's work experience spanned six decades which started working for the Late Chief Awoleke, then later joining is late friend, Alhaji, Iyiola Adeniji at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in Ibadan. During this time, he took to teaching and education, he began teaching a course at the School of Agriculture in Akure. In addition to Akure, he has taught in Liberia, Nigeria, and in the United States, where he taught middle and high school math and science in Florida, at colleges and universities where he taught pyschology and education in Iowa, Florida, and New Jersey. Leke's other work experiences include program director, executive director, president of his own crisis intervention program and working with counseling centers throughout Tampa. As the president and program director of Hopeway House, he saved many lives from the ailments of drugs, alcohol and metanl health challenges. As much as Leke loved to educate, he also enjoyed Nigerian politics. He participated in various political party activities and formed the Ikire Progressive Union, USA Chapter in Tampa. He was a Democrat in the U.S. He always wanted to work with politicians to improve education across the globe.
Timothy Oyeleke finished his illustrious career and life still trying to give back. He was working on creating a university in Ikire, Leklad University. The mission of the university was to bring world class education to the town of Ikire and to provide knowledge on a multitude of subjects from educators around the world. He was a devout catholic and joined the Knights of Columbus, Council 667 in 2000 and achieved fourth degree knighthood in 2005. From youth to present, he had many friends but closest to him throughout life are the late Alhaji Adeniji and Tony Aremu. Of all his accomplishments, his greatest joywas and always will be all of his children; from youngest to oldest, his legacy continues..
He is survived by his siblings, past spouses, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless extended family and friends.
