His Life
January 14, 2013

Timothy Purell Ragland was born in Newnan, Georgia on May 7, 1970 to the late Dorothy Smith Ragland and Alfred Ragland, Jr.  He was educated in the Coweta County School System.  While attending Newnan High School, Tim developed an interest in tennis and achieved championship status on numerous occasions.  After graduation Tim elected to serve in the U. S. Army.  His tour of duty included Saudia Arabia and Kuwait.

Tim loved to read the Bible daily and enjoyed open discussion about new words he had learned (or made up).  His "Claim to Fame" was that he was and continued to be the undisputed and undefeated champion at chess.  Tim could make you laugh just be being in his presence.  Regardless of his mental or physical state, Tim made sure he called all family members on birthdays, holidays and anniversaries.  Tim will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Annie Mae Smith and Mildred Ragland.   Tim leave to mourn: four children (the loves of his life), Kimberley Ragland, Timothy Ragland, Jr., Alexandre Ragland, and Tavarus Mitchell; father, Alfred Jr. (Wanda); two sisters, Shelia Laird and LaTonya Ragland; five brothers, Jeffery, Marquise, Caleb, Joshua and Tyler; one grandchild, Khloe'; grandfather, Alfred Ragland, Sr.; four aunts, Willie Bell Smith (Donald), Mattie Ruth Poythress (Sherman), Patricia Morris, Lucille Walton; five uncles, Melvin Smith (Charlsie), Gary Ragland, Carl Smith (Evelyn), Sammy Ragland, Alvin Smith, Jr. (Pearlie); Beloved cousin and devoted friend, Dionne and Rodney Russell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
