April 8, 2021
Homage to a beautiful rose.
Titi and I met at Oke Ona Grammar school, Abeokuta. Being in the same dormitory brought us together and cemented our friendship. Titi’s uniqueness among us all earned her the nickname Holy Girl...a nickname that stayed with her till she passed.
Unfortunately, Titi and I lost touch after school. All my efforts to locate her proved abortive. The funny thing was, I saw her picture on Facebook but did not recognize her. Fast forward to 2014 after many years of looking for Holy Girl, I finally acquired her number! Even though it was midnight when I called, Holy Girl picked up the phone and we TALKED!!!! Lord was I so happy. It was as if we never lost touch.
When I lost my mother in law, Titi was the first one of my friends to arrive at the venue. Not only that, Titi handed me an envelope!!!!! A gesture that was totally unexpected, sincerely appreciated and total Holy Girl!
Titi, when you were sick, you fought, persevered and prayed. We joined our prayers to yours and like Hezekiah, God listened and gave us an extra year with you. The extraordinary work God did on and in you added to your names among 82 set. All glory be to God for answering us when we called.
And then, April 1, 2021 came....a dark day. Normally, I don’t check my messages until later in the day. That day for whatever reason, as soon as I woke up, I turned on my phone to check my messages. Alas! It was a message I wasn’t expecting. I saw it but quickly got out off as if that will make the message disappear.. What hurts the most is that at least once a month, we would reach out to each other. March was the only month we didn’t. I actually went on your WhatsApp wall to reach out to you, but told myself you were okay and that I would do so later. Little did I know that was the week you were on your deathbed . Now, I keep asking myself why I didn’t just reach out .
Who are we to ask Him why He took you so soon? All we can do is thank Him for the joy you brought to everyone you touched. Your life was a testament of God’s beauty, love and care in your life. While we mourn your loss, the heavens rejoice because an angel has come home.
Sleep on my friend: the only Holy Girl, Oluwasindarasimi, Adurawagba, Titilayominiwajuoluwa and TitilayomininuOluwa of 82 set. We all miss you and wish you a peaceful rest in the Lord whom you served faithfully. May God uphold everyone you left behind.
Adieu my friend. Till we meet to part no more.
