A fairytale with a tragic ending. You were my once upon a time but not my happily ever after. If only I had a magic wand to change the story or was granted a wish to ease all your pain. As much as I want to stay in the fantasy, life yanks me into reality with a crushing blow. In these last 7 years I have tried to reconcile the loss, the stark truth that you are gone, yet I don’t think that is something that I will ever fully accept in my lifetime. My only solace and concurrently your redemption is through telling your story, advocating for those suffering from mental illness and addiction and watching our children grow and be happy.
