Tommy Brooks Bailey, 73, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 after a brief illness.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Gus Franklin Bailey Sr. and Blanche Cash. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Murdoch Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by Dr. Marc Tilley. Burial will be private.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Jean Bunn Bailey of the home, a daughter, Teresa Bailey Adcock (Mark) of Creedmoor, a sister, Joyce Bailey Bradsher (Fred) of Creedmoor, a granddaughter, Amber Adcock and two grandsons, Nick Adcock and Tanner Bailey, a niece Sherry McGhee, five nephews, Ronnie Bailey, Donnie Bailey, Gary Bailey and Brian and Jason Bradsher. He was preceded in death by a son Timmy Bailey and a brother Gus Bailey Jr.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church “Youth Group”, P.O. Box 745, Creedmoor, NC 27522.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the funeral service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

I am so sorry to hear about Tommy. I knew Tommy thru his Aunt Bessie and Uncle Samuel. He was a fine man and I know he loved his Mom. She was a sweet lady and she reared some fine children. Joyce I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers and I pray God will comfort you all during this difficult time.

Jean & family, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Tommy at Murdoch Center for many years and I have many memories of him regarding his work with those less fortunate and how much he cared for those he served. I especially remember how much he loved Dempsey, who was not so easy to love. Tommy was certainly God's gift to him. I also remember the hard times and how much he loved you and his children. You have been his rock for all these years. Praise God he is out of pain and the world can cast no more sickness upon him. He is in God's care and there is no better place to be.

Mr. Tommy helped shape my career in Education at Murdoch. I worked along side him as an Educational Developmental Assistant for 7 years. I am also thankful for the privilege to be able to drive the tractor on "Farm Day" which I inherited from Mr. Tommy in 2000. He displayed pride in chauffeuring the individuals who lived at Murdoch and people in the community. I take honor in attempting to do the same. We will always remember a man who was there to help people lives matter.
