PFC Tommy Lee Curd son of Lisa Young Bates and Tommy S. Curd was born at Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on November 5, 1991. He departed this life at Fort Hood, Texas, on March 20, 2011, having attained the age of 19 years four months and 15 days.

Tommy entered active duty in the United States Army on February 23, 2010. In Tommy’s short Military service he attained several awards: The Army Commendation Medal, Posthumous, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat and Special Skill Badge Marksmanship Qual Badge. Tommy was a member of the Baptist Church in Bloomfield. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, working on cars, going four wheeling and tearing up stuff.

Tommy is survived by his mother and step-father, Lisa and Jack Bates of Ellington, his father and step-mother, Tommy and Carol Curd of Bloomfield, three brothers, Jared Alan Curd of Ellington, Gerald Paul Bates Jr. of Ellington, Travis Bates of St. Louis, two sisters, Sabrina and Hailey Curd both of Bloomfield, his grandfather, Alby Young of Dexter, and grandmother, Della Curd of Bloomfield. Tommy will be deeply missed by his family and a host of friends who will mourn his passing



Visitation: Friday, April 1, 2011 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Funeral services: Friday at 2:00 P.M. McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, MO

"6 years gone and I still miss you man. Kind of crazy how God has things planned out. Man, I wish i could rewind time. You, Navarro and myself probably would have a LOT of fun. Sorry I haven't checked in on your family, without any social media or anything, I feel I let you down. Just know I haven't forgotten about you man. Much love bro!"
