Funeral Service will be held Friday October 9, 2020 at Harvest Grove Missionary Baptist Church (3323 Highview Hills Road). Visitation will begin at 12:00pm with service to follow at 1:00pm. Mask are required for entry. 

Tonya Maria Martin was born on August 8, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio. She was a twin to Tawana (Martin) Thomas and one of ten siblings. Tonya departed this life on September 23, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was preceded in death by parents, Nolan and Vera Martin, four siblings, Theresa Peavy, Walter Wilson, Ray Martin, and brother-in-law Jeff Upshaw. 

Tonya was a woman with a testimony that stirred up the atmosphere and inspired others. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Grace Outreach Fellowship. She had a giving spirit and was loved by many. Tonya was a passionate advocate for recovery and spent many years volunteering for both the Born Free Program and Narcotics Anonymous Organization. She was relentless about sharing her testimony of triumph with every person she encountered. She had a love for people and was a fervent prayer warrior. Tonya was the embodiment of self-sacrifice and worked tirelessly to demonstrate God’s love to others. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and was blessed to reunite with all of them. 

Tonya leaves to cherish her memory eight daughters: Takisha Martin, Latisha Martin, Laquita (Jabbar) Hallums, Tiara Martin, Maria Ogletree, Latia Layne, Donyelle Glenn, and Cherity Martin; 12 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter to come, six siblings: Eugene (Susan) Maniece, Van Wilson, Tawana (Kenneth) Thomas, Tina Upshaw, Twy Martin, and Thea Anderson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including her special friend, Willie Gray.
