Prof, I recall years of your mentoring and the many assistances that you rendered, the challenges and the counsel. I recall how we missed seeing physically in Africa when you arrived and even when I had helped book your hotel accommodation but we could'nt connect due to a combination of the flight disruption and awful internet connectivity. Having not met you before but only seen your photos on the net, I was overawed when I sighted you after airport clearance and you were heading to the boarding arena; had to shout myself hoarse through the glass panel, calling you Prof, Prof! and your attention was drawn by another passenger and how we spoke unclearingly through the glass and also shook hands!Happy heavenly birthday and thank you for the promotion and assistance to break academically into the world; for the references which got me awards and grants and opened me to Asia and Europe;the many pointers to areas of research;for the literatures,especially your works which you unceasingly sent to me at cost which you happily bore;for the introduction to your immediate family,especially in Nigeria;and for being you and adopting me as your son. I miss you and wished I could share many thoughts with you-the challenges and prospects of what you guided me into academically.Sleep well,Prof.Tope Omoniyi.

Prof,is God's gift to many.He was made of God to bless many.Our first meeting was via email and pronto he searched me online and although I had little presence online then,he invited me to be a member of an international working group he was seeking funding for.We maintained contacts.He made me family. He promised to help my career and he delivered.I am grateful that our paths crossed.My doctorate is fittingly dedicated to him.Prof.Tope Omoniyi lives on.

I know the pain of loosing you will perhaps never leave me. I imagine it will ease with time as I process and get through it, but I don’t suspect I will get over it. How can I? How can you get over a person who has been there since before you were even aware of yourself?
