I was thinking of Uche this morning and sought her out on LinkedIn. My goodness, I'm so sorry for the loss of such a beautiful soul. Uche and I worked together over 10 years ago and I've never forgotten the love, spirit or kindness that she shared with me so early in my career. Sending love and blessings <3

It's been a year,

Since we lost this lady so dear

The pain still pierces the heart like a spear.

We ask, why is it that the good ones go

Perhaps it is because the Lord Himself misses them so.

So to heaven this angel was asked to return

She is in a better place, but still we mourn

But it doesn't really matter the length of our sojourn

But how the work for which we are called was done.

Yours might seem brief, but it was a life well lived
We're thankful for the love you gave and received

Rest on Uche!!!

Uche was such a bright and glowing light wherever she went. She brought such energy with her and to those who encountered her. That's what I experienced when I first met her in Johannesburg, RSA.

She added color to her husband's life and that of her kids. She was such a BLESSING!!
She was such a remarkable lady....gone too soon. I will certainly miss her!

Goodbye, my dear friend. Adieu, our basket full of SUNSHINE!!! AGAPE!

She was one of those very rare, warm, unfailingly kind and twinkly people, who left sprinkles of star dust wherever she went. The world felt a little darker when I heard this news a few minutes ago but I guess it was just her time. Rest well, Uche. And hang in there, C.I.

Uche attended our wedding with her parents in 1982, as a young girl of about 7 years. Her infectious smiles and amiable character got me attracted to her. The last I saw her was on her wedding day in Lagos, Nigeria before they migrated to South Africa and then Canada. I always got inspiring news about her and her family each time I discuss with her parents.

The news of her ill-health was so shattering and devastating but we kept faith alive that "whatever God cannot do, does not exist"

When eventually it pleased God to call Uche home, though too painful to bear, we accepted what we could not change.

Uche was such a loving, charming, respectful, adorable, charismatic, God-fearing child every parent prays for. She could have gone at her prime but not unnoticed! We pray her sweet soul receives mercy and peace at last in the Lord's bosom.

May the good Lord comfort, strengthen and console her husband and kids, her parents Col. Leo and Ebele Ufodike, Anuli her sister and her brother Ako, her numerous friends and loved ones. May we not bury our young in Jesus name.
Adieu, beloved Uche

So shocked to hear of Uche's demise in the most unexpected way having not seen or heard from Uche for over two decades, but I thank God for Uche's life because the conversation about her was a good one I never knew the woman's testimony that was shared to me was someone I knew then I heard the word "But " she's no more, and my heart sunk, in the midst of my conversation I got to know that the woman with such a beautiful life was Uche. I remember Uche vividly as a God fearing decent, cheerful, beautiful teenage girl in her first year in the University of Jos while I was in my final year in Unijos, we attended same Church, and were in same hostel. From the testimonies I heard of Uche she never changed from being the adorable Christian woman with a heart of gold. God loves Uche the most no doubt, may Uche's Soul rest peacefully and blissfully in the bossom of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen. May God comfort Uche's husband, children, parents brother and sister and give them the grace to carry on with the blessed and loving memory of Uche

Uche,
I consider myself very lucky and blessed to have met you and become great friends. Queen's University crossed our paths and we got to achieve some amazing things throughout our program together. Where you found the energy and time to give so much of yourself to your family, friends, and community I will never know. Your heart, smile, laughter and passion brought so much joy to those around you. Your talents were endless. You have left a lifetime impression on me. Let your spirit stay strong with all of us.
God bless you!

Uche should mean “angel” because that’s simply what you are. Your selflessness, warmth, and positivity (almost to the point of naivety) even till your last days when you still, even in pain, sought to brighten the lives of those around you.

“Uchelinko” your light will forever remain here with us but you’ve earned your wings, so beautiful angel: fly, fly home to where you belong.

Dearest Uche, you are always in our hearts and although you are not physically present, your beautiful, sweet and kind soul will never be forgotten.
If Love alone could have saved you, you would never have left us. We find ourselves wishing that this was not real, that this was just a dream.
All we have now are lovely memories and although the tears roll down our faces, we know you are in a better place.
Rest with the angels in the bosom of the Lord because you are one of them. We love you.

My Dearest Uche,

I cannot believe that I am writing a tribute about you, that you are gone to be with the Lord.

I met you in March/April 1995 when Pastor Fred Williams planted Christ Academy in Unijos. You were part of the team of 8/10 people that birthed "Thank God It's Friday (TGIF)" with me on the Lawn Tennis Courts at Naraguta Hostels in Unijos as we laboured for many hours in Night Prayers. You became my evangelism partner as we gate-crashed night parties around Jos to share the Gospel with young people, then we left Jos and came back to Lagos for a few years.

March 2004 as I arrived in Johannesburg, yourself and Pastor CI welcomed us and helped us settle in. And we continued our journey of faith as family friends until you guys immigrated to Canada a few years ago.

Just on April 14th, 2021 you sent me messages of Condolence when you heard that my mother had transitioned. Little did I know that that would be the last that I would hear from you on this side of eternity. It is still unbelievable to me!!!

Uche, you were a very beautiful woman inside and outside.
You loved Jesus and was never ashamed of talking about Him to anyone.
You fought for the promises of God for your life with all devotion and commitment.
We will miss you very sorely on this side as you enjoy your well-deserved rest in the bosom of the Lord.
We pray for your husband and my brother Pastor CI and your children that the Lord will comfort them as they carry on with your legacy.
We pray for your parents and siblings that they would be consoled by the Holy Spirit.
We pray for all your friends and brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world that we all would be comforted and consoled in the Lord.

Adieu Uche!!!
See you on Resurrection Morning!!!

Uche my little Sister!
Little did I know that our time with you on this side of eternity was so short when you visited us in Los Angeles.
How extra special and so greatly cherished are those memories now.
Uche, you personify the words “Beautiful Soul”, and you always leave a wonderful and unforgettable fragrance of Jesus Christ wherever you go.
Your seat as a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend and a minister is now empty and you will surely be greatly missed.
But thanks be to God for the glorious hope of eternal life we have in Christ that assures us of a future reunion with you.
Rest on darling Uche till we see again and behold that oh so Uche smile.

My beloved, cute and pretty Lady Uche, a woman full of life and adventure. Your physical death gave me a big shock. I literally screamed and was so sad that my soul sank. I came back to myself knowing that this is not the end of the story.

However, I am grateful to God that you may have died Physically but you are eternally alive in Christ Jesus. I was looking forward to visiting you all when I come to Canada, especially since we have been out of touch one on one. But kept communication with your sister Anuli.
I pray that God will comfort your Parents and siblings inside out, more so your Children and husband in this departure. May God's grace be sufficient for all of them. May God comfort those of us who knew you too. I can say with all audacity, until we meet again at the feet of the Eternal Son of God and our Heavenly Father basking in the Sweet Presence of the Holy Spirit.. Adieu my beloved "Àbúrò". Pst C.I., the children and the Ufodikes' please, on behalf of my family and I accept our since condolences. It is well. RJB

Dear Uche and dear family -
I know Uche through our years of working together at the AER. I don’t think there is anyone who has worked with Uche who doesn’t have stories about her humour, her high energy and her amazing work ethic, which we knew extended to all aspects of her life.
It is unimaginable that Uche was taken away from us so suddenly. Thank you all for sharing her with us and for making her videos available. It is heartbreaking yet comforting to get to see and hear her as she continued to share positivity and her learnings and hope. I will always remember the Uche.
My deepest condolences,
Laura

I met Uche at the University of Jos and was drawn to her by her warmth and passion for Jesus. At the time she was in a gospel music group called Cyrus, she would rap and sing and in my heart I thought what an amazing person. She was part of the motivation to join that same music group and it was life changing.

Over the years we stayed in touch off and on, I saw her last on a visit to South Africa when she and her family lived there. When she moved to Canada we stayed in touch by calling and chatting. (I honestly didn’t think all would stop anytime soon).

Even though we didn’t see, you could still her love for life and most of all the Lord. Uche was special, I will miss her. My joy is that she’s with Jesus, we shall all one day meet to part no more.

I am so sad to hear this news.
My first memory of Uche is of this DYNAMIC woman of God who wanted to start a mentoring group for teenage girls. I felt blessed by her commitment to discipling young women. Her devotion to God and contagious energy will be missed.
My sincere condolences to the family at this challenging time. May God comfort you all in this time of loss.

We were all saddened to hear of Uche's passing. We spent many nights as a family praying for her healing and strength. There are no words to express our heartfelt sorrow. Uche actually lived the life she talked about. She knew the Bible and loved the Lord with all heart. Heaven definitely gained an Angel. Please accept our condolences and may our prayers help comfort you and through this difficult time.

I never had the privilege of meeting Uche in person. I learned of the cancer diagnosis and followed her youtube vlogs while praying for her. I have read all the tributes and they are consistent with what I felt about her as I watched her journey to healing. I was greatly inspired by her life and journey in the short time I knew of her. The way she would pray for others, encourage with her words and even present the gospel of Jesus in her videos despite her pain at the time...wow! her faith has inspired my faith.

It literally broke my heart to learn of her passing as she'd been in my heart in the days leading up to her transition. But amidst the noise of the mourning, and while I prayed for all her family and friends, all I could hear in my heart was: "Uche is no more in pain". She's healed; singing and dancing salsa with her Jesus and the heavenly host. I can just imagine the welcome party that ushered Uche in: "well done good and faithful servant...enter into rest!"

Uche, the one thing that strikes me so deeply is seeing how you lived so purposely, so fully, so joyfully, and so hopefully in Christ. I binge watch your YouTube videos and my heart is so heavy for the loved ones you have left behind...
I have no doubt in my heart that you are rejoicing and singing praises to your father in heaven now. Away from a world with no pain or suffering.
Sing with the angels Uche. May the impact you made on earth never be forgotten.

Rest In Peace

Aunty, I still find it hard to accept that you're no longer here with us. There was still so much to learn from you.

I have only fond memories of you. I remember my first encounter with you when Uncle introduced you as his wife-to-be. Who was not captivated by your sweet charm? I also recall spending my holidays with you and uncle as newlyweds. I admired you so much; you had great passion for God, you were a doting and supportive wife, and full of purpose and wisdom.

Thank you for living a life worthy of emulation. I will remain ever thankful to God to have known you on the level that I did.

You are forever in my heart, aunty. I love you and will miss you dearly.

Uche was our small group leader at Centre Street Church. Unconditionally loving with a big smile, Uche always made you feel at home. All our group members would attest to this. Uche was an amazing woman of God, and a truly passionate Christian leader. In every one of our meetings she allowed each member’s voice to be heard, even the children. She was always the first one to get up to dance and sing praises to the Lord during our meetings. We loved her fun-loving nature.
Uche was an incredibly talented singer. Aisha and Doug got married 2 years ago and of course Uche was ready to sing a beautiful song at their small wedding. The songs she wrote were anointed and blessed everyone who heard them. Uche didn’t just keep her music making to herself as she often invited others to join in, such as the time Patricia and Safiya were able to sing and play cello for one of her songs.
Uche was a prayer warrior. Every member of our group was able to experience Uche’s powerful prayers. Aisha and Doug recount : “When we had a challenging pregnancy and thought nothing is guaranteed, we will never forget how vital Uche was in the miracle of our son who was born prematurely, the doctors said he may not make it- However, Uche refused to give up, gave us hope to keep praying, she literally formed an army of people to pray for our little boy, who is healthy and happy today, Praise be to God!” The Wegerhoff family as well received incredible support from Uche: “Our daughter has been dealing with some medical issues for the past 7 months and Uche has been there to support us even though she was fighting her own battle. She would call to check and see how our daughter was doing and prayed powerful prayers over her. Every word Uche said was encouraging and uplifting to us. The one phrase she often said to us was “It is well”… so much comfort found in those 3 words.”
Uche inspired all of us individually, and in Faith, she was our beautiful sister in Christ. Uche and her family have always been there for us through prayer, encouraging us to never forget to be thankful to our Almighty God! Uche, you have left so much of yourself in each and every one of us. We will always be grateful for you blessing our lives. You truly left a void that no one can replace. We miss you dearly and will always think of the adventures we shared fondly.
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15

Darling Uch, where do I start?!!! I have been so lost for words for days I think I am in denial.

What a gem the world has lost in you. I celebrate you, girl. You lived fiercely. You fought a good fight. You finished strong. You were such an inspiration to many (esp me). You persevered till the very end. A great achiever you always were.

I met you for the first time during a visit to South Africa in 2007. Then later in Calgary, where we forged a sisterhood. We both knew straightaway that we were sisters for life, even if we were different, yet we possessed very similar values. We were conference buddies and planned christian conferences together. Our first girl's weekend trip to Seattle for a ladies conference was a bomb. We shared into the night God's purpose for our lives and we prayed fervently for each other. It was such a wonderful encounter and you ran with it mentoring youth amongst other things - you were RELENTLESS. You constantly held me to account for all the dreams we prayed about. O! Uche, I so miss you.

One of the greatest things about you is your honesty. I LOOOOOVE and will miss our convos. Khai, Uch, no one says it as plain as you do. You are so sincere, yet sweet. I REALLY miss you; I know you are resting with the Father. I never thought my last trip to see you in March would be my last. O Death, where is your sting? Rest on & enjoy His presence. I love you, girl. Praying for your family as they process your transition. Adieu, my Uch, Adieu!
