"The Doc" has passed on to glory. Our community has lost an iconoclast in the person of our beloved, amiable and philanthropic brother, Dr. Ume Ogboso, born in Akanu Ohafia, Abia State, Nigeria, on June 24th, 1954.

Dr. Ogboso, having proven himself as a wiz-kid in both behavior and learning, at a young age, was sent overseas - United States of America to continue in his quest for knowledge. He graduated in flying colors with a Degree in Optometry. Dr. Youmay was instrumental in the formation and smooth running of many great business and community organizations, namely: the Ohafia Association of Houston, Texas, USA, having served in different executive capacities, most notably,  as the chapter President; the Old Bende Cultural Association; The Nigerian Foundation; African Chamber of Commerce, World Igbo Conference; etc .

Dr. Youmay, as he was fondly called, was a licensed Optometric Doctor who ran his own eye clinic until when sickness struck him. He was known in the entire community as the Dr " that practiced with a soul" - free service to the underprivileged.

Dr. Ogboso fought a good fight - He left a lasting impression on all that came his way - ever caring, smiling and peaceful. Religiously, Dr. Ogboso was instrumental in the founding of First African Presbyterian Church, Houston, Texas where he served as a member of the church board until his passing.

Dr. Ogboso went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2011. May the soul of the departed rest in peace. Further announcements will be communicated as they are made available. Let us support the family in our prayers.
