In the beginning

She had her primary school education at Ireti Girls school. Falomo,Lagosbetween 1967 – 1973. She then proceeded to Methodist Girls High School, Yaba Lagos between 1973 – 1980. A distinguished Akokite, Umoh bagged her B.sc (Hons) Botany  in 1983 and MBA in 1988.

Umoh and Imoh

Umoh got married on the 22nd of April 1989 to her childhood love, Imoh Jonah Etuk. They came a long way together and were an epitome of true love that has stood the test of time.

The marriage is blessed with 5 wonderful children who family and friends admire for being grounded in the Christian virtues and discipline even at their tender ages. They are, Akaninyene, Ubong, Edidiong, Mfonabasi and Unwana.

The Career Woman

From a very tender age, Umoh set clearly defined goals for herself which she set out to achieve, and she did!

She started her career as an education officer, Federal Ministry of Education,Victoria Islandand was there between 1984 – 1991. She subsequently berthed at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) where she served in various departments, the last being NAPIMS as Chief Safety Officer.

Umoh took training and personal development seriously and attended several personal and official courses and seminars at home and abroad.

Her last official assignment was 1 year secondment to Houston, Texas, USA. Her bosses and colleagues describe Umoh as diligent and hardworking whose integrity is unquestionable

A Large Heart

Umoh was a born-again Christian who loved her personal Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to the end. She was a committed member of the Redeemed Christian Church God and would be greatly missed by members of the Resurrection Parish, Jakande Lagos and Living Word Chapel Parish,Houston,Texas.

She was a practical Christian whose faith produced in her a compassionate and accommodating spirit. She was a seasoned counselor whose words brought life to souls in distress, a quiet philanthropist, giving of her substance to countless individuals and families, a true friend and sister to many who would miss her commitment and loyalty.

A Spirited Battle

The strength and faith that Umoh showed when she was ill was remarkable. Even on her sickbed she was still co-ordinating the affairs of others, particularly the final exams and project of Akaninyene, her first daughter, her sister, Margaret’s wedding amongst others.

To the glory of God and to the shame of the devil, Akan passed and was inducted as a Pharmacist at an impressive ceremony on the 22nd of August 2006, exactly one week after Umoh went to be with Lord
