July 23, 2014

The brightest light went out on July 19th, efforts to fix it lasted until July 24th when it was finally revealed that that light will no longer be around to light up the lives of many including her son Orrett Jnr. Sisters, brothers, Nieces, nephews and myself Orrett Snr. She was my beloved wife Valarie Cleopatra. It was a terrible shock.
God in His infinite wisdom had other plans. She was going to a heavenly home to be with her mother. My dear wife was not only a wonderful wife and mother but she was a person who loved teaching, and did so for most of her life. She was a cheerful and friendly person and made many warm friends. She loved her church and was faithful to her allotted tasks.

I close this tribute with a feeling of humility and submission to Divine authority. I know many men have wonderful wives but no one has ever had a better one than me.. She was faithful, efficient, loyal and loving. She inspired me in ways I cannot explain. I have lost a worthy companion but I have nothing but happy memories of our years together. I sorrow now for my loved one but the burden has been lessened by the many kindnesses shown me and my Son. I mention no names lest someone inadvertently be missed. My desk is covered with cards and letters extending love and sympathy. I do want you all to know how grateful I am for all you have said or done. The tribute you paid touched us deeply. I fear I cannot thank all of you personally but be assured your kindness will never be forgotten.

May Her Soul Rest In Perfect Peace.

02 - Because You Loved Me

How lucky was I to have you here
I always smiled when you were near.
You blessed my life with love and joy
especially when you brought home our little boy.

I miss the laughs and all the fun
I still can't believe that it's all done.
I wish that you were here with me
I'd get you ice cream and rub your feet
I'd let you sit in my recliner seat!

You want me to be happy in this life
that’s not easy without you my wife.
But for every day that now goes by
you quietly remind me of what, where and why.

You taught me a lot about how to live
How to love and how to give.
Now I do it on my own
But you are with me, I'm not alone.

There was only one chance in my life
For you to be my beautiful wife.
You were so gracious and giving for all to see
I'm glad you chose to be with me.

My acquaintance with Valarie

by a Glenn

I became acquainted with Valarie through Orrett in December 2000.

During periods of association and conversation Valarie exhibited high
intelligence..

Valarie possessed the attributes of kindness, caring and a
loving individual. She toiled very hard for her family.
She will be surely missed.

May the soul of this faithful and beloved DEPARTED REST IN PEACE.

Valerie attended Hope Town Primary School and Bushlot Secondary School in Guyana. In 1981 she obtained her Trained Teachers Certificate from the Cyril Potter College of Education, and a few years later graduated from the University of Guyana with a Bachelors Degree. She then continued her vocation at Bushlott Secondary Schoolin West Berbice and St. John’sCollege,Waterloo Street, in Georgetown. Following that Valerie joined the staff atMolefi Secondary School in Botswana. There she continued her career for the next six years. In 2005 she migrated to the US with her family. Always relentless in her desire to make a difference in the lives of children Valerie volunteered her skills and services at Get Set Kindergarten School in Brooklyn where she continued her teaching ministry until her untimely demise.

She has always been a very prayerful person, her constant anthem being “The Lord is my shepherd”. In the US she continued her devotion to God as a member of the Faith Evangelistic Assembly of God, in Crown Heights,Brooklyn, where she served as an usher.

Valerie leaves to mourn: her husband Orrett and her son Orrett Khumo; her siblings: Godfrey, Doreen, Keith, Sheldon, Eddie, Jacqueline, adopted daughter/niece Althea and many others , her church family at Faith Evangelistic Assembly of God; her colleagues at Get Set Kindergarten and a host of faithful and spiritually motivated friends.
