ForeverMissed

This Memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Valerie Broomes. We will remember her passion for life, caring nature and legacy forever.

Funeral:

Thursday 18th March 2021.

It will not be streamed online

Immediate family only to attend.

Due to government restriction only a limited number of people could be in attendance. Valerie was loved by many people and we could not justify who could or could not attend. Therefore, only immediate family would attend the funeral. We appreciate your understanding of this during the unusual times we face with this pandemic.

Valerie wanted people to celebrate her life at her funeral and not be sorrowful. When the time allows, we hope to celebrate with family and friends in a memorial service that is more reflective of the spirit of Valerie. We hope  those that knew and cared for her can attend this.

If you would like to send flowers, please send them to our home by 10am of the day of the funeral the latest.

Cousin Val,
Though we lived oceans apart, nevertheless when we visited you were warm, welcoming and generous ( I have the Handbags and your handmade Sweater/Wrap that proves it)
Your untimely passing left us all shocked and saddened, but in the words of Kahlil Gibran’s, The Prophet...... And what is it to cease breathing but to free the breath from it’s restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
Dance and sing Val. You will be forever missed.

I know the my Aunty Valerie will have a special place, wrapped in the Lords arms and in utilizing her caring, organised & no nonsense attitude.

So, look out for that special Angel, whether it be a feather, robin or butterfly, as these are signs that Valerie remains amongst us.

Dearest Valerie, the tragedy of your passing is made worst by the difficulty of not being able to travel and be with the family.
You were taken away from us so quickly but have left us with lovely memories of fun, love and a solid dedication to family.
Losing a sister is a painful experience but you will always be in my heart. Never to be forgotten❤️

Dearest Valerie:

I am Hope, your cousin. I only met you twice but I felt that I have known you forever. You see, my mother (Avenel), my uncle (Lee), my grandmother (T'Dor) and the rest of our family in Jamaica would speak of you, your siblings and Aunt CC. My memory of you is your pronounced British accent, your strong/determine personality and your curious smile. I am grateful to have shared this life experience with you, and I will chant that your soul will find peace in your next journey. So I celebrate this thanksgiving of your life with gratitude and grace. Until next time, "walk good mon, walk good......" Hope Powell, NJ, USA. Her Life
February 27, 2021
Valerie’s parents hail from Jamaica. They both came to the UK in the 1950s. Valerie was born and raised in West London. Growing up in a large family (3 brothers and 4 sisters) in West London during 60s and 70s created some fond memories for her and lifelong friendships. Little did she know she would also meet the love of her life. Valerie would go on to marry Tony, have children (Toni-Mae and Simon) building a life together in East London.

Valerie was blessed with the ability to teach herself to knit and with determination improved her skills to be quite accomplished. There are a lucky few that have been blessed to have one or a couple of her creations.

Valerie loved adventure and travelled to many places taking a keen interest in local culture and art.

Valerie enjoyed playing netball and played in different teams and tournaments. Many good friendships were made, and she would go on to share the love of the game playing alongside her daughter.

Valerie’s working career is long, starting with her Saturday job at Bishops and ending up working in various posts in British Telecom since the late 1970s.

Valerie loved to laugh, her three grandchildren (Theo, Daniel and Joseph) gave many moments of joy and laughter.

Valerie’s untimely death on 5th January 2021 came as a shock to her loves one’s. Her passing in her sleep will be forever mourned. However, her amazing caring spirit shall live on in our hearts.

Rest well Valerie. Gone to soon

A Beautiful Smile

March 2, 2021
I had not known Valerie for too many years before she kindly invited me to her wedding.  On most of the occasions I saw her she was busy and usually very serious. She had a lot to do, a young mother with a partner and home plus a full time job and other responsibilities all needing to be juggled to get everything just right.

The day of the wedding arrived and the sun shone.
Everyone in attendance was very well dressed and eagerly awaiting the Bride's arrival.
When Valerie appeared the first thing I noticed wasn't her beautiful wedding dress, it was her beaming smile.
Valerie kept that smile on her face for the whole duration of that very special day. You could just feel how incredibly happy she was and nothing was going to spoil that day for her. That radiant smile on her face on her wedding day is how I am going to remember Valerie.
Rest well lovely lady and share that smile where ever you are.
With love,  Laura xx
