I remember.....

June 23, 2016

It has been many, many years, but I remember Valerie so well...Why? because I was with her, there at Broward General Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, as a volunteer, when she lost her family that horrible day in 1967.  I remember a sweet, bright, young lady with so much courage and strength.  She was physically broken, but showed such a strong will to live, in spite of her tremendous loss.  I spent many days with her, talking, listening and remember especially her "crush" on Bart Starr.  I managed to contact him about Valerie and told him that he was her "hero".  I don't remember exactly how,all those years ago, but he did contact her and it made her so happy.  I have thought of her so many times since and decided to see what I could find out about her today.....I was saddened to learn of her death, yet happy that she married and began her family.  I will never forget you Valerie......Walk with the angels, dear one...Your light will forever shine....

With kindness always,
Myrlan Wills
