Mr. Nguyen was born in Saigon, Vietnam on October 8, 1952, the son of the late Man and Dinh Nguyen. After graduating from high school he joined a very select group of young men as a Navy Seal in the South Vietnamese Army, where he fought side by side with the United States Armed Forces Soldiers. His efforts for the war were so distinguished and dangerous that the United States Government sent him to America for fear that his life would be taken because of his actions during the Vietnam Conflict. After many years Van found his way to Franklin, Georgia where he met the love of his life, Helen Cammon and later married her. His great joy in life was seeing that Mrs. Helen was happy and well cared for. He not only loved her, but her children and grandchildren as well. He was constantly finding little treasures for one of them and they all felt blessed to have him after the death of their own father. He loved finding trinkets and redoing them. He delighted his family with wonderful Vietnamese meals, and was famous for his home made egg rolls and fried rice. One of the greatest events in his life was when he was saved and became an active member of the Centralhatchee Independent Methodist Church. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Embrey Cammon Nguyen of Franklin, GA; one daughter, Janice Chesnut (Randy) also of Franklin, GA.; and one son, Jimmy Cammon (Michelle) of Villa Rica, GA.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
