While Eldora, Apryl and myself were coming out of high school and going into our college years, Vee always treated me and Apryl like her little sisters. She was always bursting with energy and laughter. She kept us filled with merriment. I can still hear her laugh today. Although we lost touch over the years,
she would cross my mind from time to time. I will forever remember and miss her darling personality and her encompassing love towards us and towards her family. Rest well Vee. I will always love the way you loved us. And to the family and her closest friends, I pray that you will find sweet comfort in your memories of your beloved Vee.

I remember our journey beginning on 21st St NE in Washington DC.  We started kindergarten together and got promoted to 1st grade together within a month at St Benedictthe Moor.  We would walk up the hill from school to my home where  my mom, Juanita Walker aka "Miss Juanita", was the after-school care provider (the babysitter) for the neighborhood. Vee & I stayed in touch over the years as we did the adulting thing (college, marriage, kids & grandchildren).  There had been a couple of times when we sent over 6 hours on the phone just talking about life.  To celebrate our 60th birthday, we went to Vegas and had a memorable time.  Rest in peace my friend!

Point of light in my life

  1. I met Vee in a professional role. We had a patient-physician relationship, but it became very special as she had such a delightful personality. After my office closed, she continued to be a bright light in my life, sending a lovely GIF  for holidays, etc. She loved her family so much, too. That was an inspiration.  My prayers are with her husband, daughter and son-in-law-law, grand babies, siblings, cousins, and friends.  She was a jewel. I will never forget her. Gone way too soon.  I will try to smile every day as I think of her.
