This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Velma Henderson, 92 years old, born on May 10, 1928, and passed away on February 19, 2021. Soon, we will see her again in paradise on earth. (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; Revelation 21:3,4).

Sending my deepest sympathy for your loss. Know that your friends are praying for you. One thing is for certain, that your loved one will not have to rest too long because God's Kingdom is sure to set us all free from the enemy death. (Rev 21:1-4). With much love.

Some of my fondest memories of being taught about our Grand Creator fills my mind with thoughts of Velma Henderson.
During the early 60’s we were neighbors. I would go to visit with her next door and sit at the dinning room table and have a cup of coffee. Mind you I was only 5 or 6 years old. Sister Henderson would pour a small amount of coffee into my cup and the rest with pet milk.
I didn’t like pet milk but because we were having a conversation while reading the daily text from the yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, it was ok.
Years passed and once again we were neighbors. She faithfully took me to the meetings, on Bible studies, and in the field ministry.
Her love for Jehovah was strong and always had first place in her life.
I am confident of this fact,
“ For God is not unrighteous to forget your works and the love you showed for his name…” Hebrews 6:10
With that scripture in mind, I am reassured of the Bibles promise of the resurrection, when the Son of God, Christ Jesus, calls my spiritual mom and sister, back to life on a clean new earth free from suffering and pain.
On that day I will immediately know her because she will have her hand on her hip and feisty as every!
Until then, I will be thinking about the first thing I will say to her, how long we will hug, and all of the things we will have to talk about.
I have comfort in knowing that she is safely resting in Jehovah’s memory.

I am going to miss my feisty little lady. I loved to make her smile and I’m looking forward to seeing her again in God’s promised new world. At Revelation 21:3, 4 It reads: “God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I’m looking forward to that glorious time to be reunited with my friend.

Her Life
March 26, 2021
Velma Louise Henderson was born May 10th, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the only girl of four children and often felt her strong personality was due to her male siblings.

While she did have a tough, rough spirit, her demeanor completely changed once she began studying the bible and applying its principles. "That bible changed me!" she would often say. Velma made significant changes in her life and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 29th, 1959. She devoted her life to serving and worshipping Jehovah God. She faithfully attended her meetings at the Kingdom Hall, and annual conventions, assemblies, and was present annually at the Memorial of Christ's Death. Velma shared in the pioneer (full-time minister) work frequently, and shared her hope of God's kingdom and his promise of paradise with neighbors, friends, and family. She took the time to study with these ones too, many of whom began to worship Jehovah with her. Even in her older years when she couldn’t do as much in her service as before, her eyes lit up and a smile was fixed on her face when she talked about the bible.

In addition to her spiritual routine, Velma also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and cooking delicious meals.

Velma fell asleep in death on Friday, February 19th, 2021, peacefully in her home at the age of 92. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandson-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many spiritual brothers, sisters, and friends.

The Henderson/ Johnson family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have sent loving cards, text messages, flowers, food, and most important, prayers during this difficult time. We have seen how our God proves to be "the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort," (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). Also, heartfelt thanks to Velma's nurses, caregivers, and hospice staff for their genuine care.

From the moment I stepped into your room on that faithful day to assist with care,u didn't want to eat but after speaking with you, you asked me to give you something to drink and eat,I was forced to give u a little bit of my food which was against the policy of the facility but that was how it all started, every day became a blessing and a healing process to your health, until you were discharged to go home,I never knew you were going to leave so soon , I regret to say that I wish, I knew  I would have written you a letter to give to my son who passed on to glory on the 19th of February, 2014...grandma,pls I beg of you to continue to extend your love to my son Godwin Ayogu, I miss u both. Loving you was unconditional ❤️ ❤️ ❤️.

To My Bestfriend

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about or miss you .  I miss all the times I used to make you laugh and get on your nerves by telling you all the crazy , silly ,and bizarre things I’m going to do or want to do. You would say it all the time , me and you are alike.   I’ll never forget the times you would Cook bacon for Max and say we couldn’t have any .  I’ll never forget the first , time you got to ride in my Red Ford Mustang in 15’. I took you to the bank and  to run a few errands . I took you to my first job and my favorite boss told you to remind me to let you use my discount for you . You got a kick out of that .  All of the good meals you use to make and us eating Chinese food from Stanley’s other place after the memorial or just because.  So many good times , laughs and memories . Until we see each other another again - I love you forever and always and even after that

I’m going to miss the times I would just swing by & we would just talk. She would share stories w/ me about Grandad & how we both worked in the Union. She would always say “I know what really goes on in there.” We would laugh & she would tell me stories (most I won’t share). It was a bonding experience that will forever be a part of my memories. Love you Grandma Always
