Well Mommy,
it’s my first Spring in our new home.  Made it thru the Summer, Winter and Fall 2021.  Learned a lot, got a lot done.  So here we are in 2022 almost one year in our home and I find I’m thinking of you often.   I wish you could see our home.   There would have been room for you if ever needed.  You and Reggie’s mom. Well Kenny Sr. Would have snatched you up probably☺️.  I love you mommy, miss you much❤️

Veola's Family

September 15, 2013

My mother had 5 brothers.  Robert Moore, Leonard Moore, Sammy Moore, John Durham and Johnny McCoy Jr.   My Uncle Robert, Sammy and Leonard are still alive (not so sure about uncle Leonard).  Uncle John and Sunny (Johnny Jr) passed away not too many years after my mother.   My Uncle Robert has been apart of my life since I can remember.  He is now living in an assisted living facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  We see him as often as we can.  My sister Cassandra and brother Kenny see him often.  I love my Uncle Rob, he reminds me of my mother.  My Uncle Sunny was a big old guy.  Uncle Sunny!  I loved when he visited my mother.  His laughter filled the house.  My cousins Lori, Tuesday (Felicia) and Rodney lived on Kensington Street with their mother Aunt Bert.  My Uncle John I believe was the baby.  He would come over to see my mother often.  Uncle John.  Thanks so much for the wonderful connection we have with our Wylie family.  Dear Aunt Betty Durham.  My mother's bestfriend/sister in law.  We are very close with our Wylie family cousins.  We also have Durham cousins.  I just saw my cousin Micheal (Mike) Durham the other day.  We always hug, kiss and make promises to spend time together.  His wife Erica and I are friends.  Jessica his daughter and my daughter Briana are both graduates of the Foote Schoool.  My Uncle Sammy, I've met.  My other siblings have.  Uncle Sammy is the muscian of the family.  "Iron board Sam!"  He was in the jet magazine.  I googled him once!  His daughter Tammy and I met on Facebook!  My Uncle Robert has a daughter, but I don't really know her.  Can't write about what I don't know about, so I'll end now.

Life of Veola

The Early Years

Veola McCoy was born on Sept 15, 1931 in Rock Hill South Carolina.  She was the daughter of Odessa Moore and Johnny McCoy.  Stepdaughter of Equator McCoy. ( I am going by what I know of my mother and am hoping my siblings will add to what I don't know or have omitted.)  Veola attended school in Rock Hill until the 8th grade.  My grandmother passed away when my mother was very young (age 10).  Veola was passed around from relative to relative, never really being welcome.  I remember hearing stories of how awful my mother's relative treated her when she was young. I am sadden by this because my mother was loved by many and welcomed all into our home.  Veola came to live with her father and his wife Equator (Grandmother).  Was she happy?  Was she a good student?  What does she remember about her mother?  These questions and many more will forever go unanswered.  She left us too soon.  This is basically all of know of my mother's early years.  My siblings can fill in the rest.
