Thinking of you on this day Sis Tene, I pray Allah grants you much love and peace. A mother is very dear to her children and I can see you are a reflection of her love. I love you sis.

I'm thinking of Vicki today, the first anniversary of her death. Her candle still burns bright. We all think of her and mention her often. I hear her little giggle and see her big grin in my head almost everyday. I so miss that lively spirit of hers. Here's to you my dear Vicki! God bless you.

I remembered Jan. 17 was Vicki's birthday. Even though I'm in Texas, I cannot forget her. Every time I hear the song "Stay with me" Vicki is remembered in my heart. I remember when we (Vicki, Tene, Chaca, John, Jerry and me) went to Magic Mountain in December. It was so cold we bought socks to wear as gloves, but we had a good time, especially the children. That is what Vicki really wanted the most. There are more Vicki memories; cherish them.

The first time I really got to know Vicki was at a Bar Exam in Pasadena. We had hours to talk. I had always thought of her as one tough cookie, which she was, but underneath she had a heart of gold. She loved her family and kept me updated on what was going on with their lives. I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. I had not seen her since my retirement, but I know it would have made no difference. She will be missed by all that knew her.

I've tried to call or made the move to call and then I remember. It doesn't seem real most of the time, yet here we are. Missing Her.....

Miss Vicki's life was a testimony of the total woman! She was independent, an asset as an employee, true to herself, a fearless mother and a great friend. She valued her family and you always knew they were first in her life! She was the truth and provided wisdom, mother wit and that phrase that would challenge you, "well why not!" I remember so many times talking about books on our readers then her laughing when I upgraded to an IPAD. I remember us consoling each other after our friend Faye Galbreath passed. Miss Vicki and I had so many conversations about politics, children, life, and ourselves. Ride the wind into God's arms Miss Vicki. I will miss you.

Vicki, I will always look back on our friendship and remember all the good times we had. I still laugh when I think of all the times I tried to sneak in a hug and you'd try to beat me down after, priceless. And I'll always remember the time you, Patrick, and myself wandered the Gas Lamp district hammered and bar hopping. I always knew you were hard on the outside to protect how soft your heart really was. I truly hope you are resting in peace my friend and you will be missed.

My Mom loved Vicki. They would talk about their adventures traveling around Los Angeles on public transport, raising children and most of all their love of books. If my Mom were with us today, she would be sad to hear that her friend was gone but she would smile and remember.

I will miss Vicki and our hours long soulful talks about life and our futures, our happy hour jaunts exploring downtown LA, attending movie premieres and seeing our favorite movies early on Saturdays, but most of all her encouraging me after the loss of my mother to continue to be all that I could be, no matter what.

To the family you are in my prayers.

Vicki was truly one of a kind. What a special character she was. I truly value the twenty six years we worked together. Not only was she a good, dedicated employee, I counted her as a friend.  She offered me good advice on raising my kids, kept me updated on politics, and ecouraged good health habits. As of late, we had been sharing thoughts about retirement and development of our spiritual selves. I know she was happy with her family, herself, and how she chose to live. We can all learn so much from her and have. May she know how much she meant to so many.

Vicki Cummings had a delightful spirit. Her approach was welcoming and friendly. God has blessed us with her presence. Only the Father God knew of the plan He had for Vicki. She has fulfilled her assignment and has now returned to the Father. God said he will comfort us. He sent is Son, Lord Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life. Believe.

Vicki,

You were a part of us all and touched us all in ways that made our hearts grow. Remembering the happiness in your voice as you spoke about your grandchildren and your family will always touch those you shared your stories with. You will be missed and God will nourish and keep you safe in his arms. Please look down on us and keep us safe from the everyday storms that we will have to face. May your family know there is joy and happiness at the end of this dark tunnel and your spirit will continue to live through them. I know they may feel alone, but you will always be right beside them hugging them with your wings.

Vicki

I don’t know what to say when life is all of a sudden gone.
The pain, the hole, the emptiness that someone filled is gaping
In the love ones you’ve left in a state of disrupt,
Because your strong smiling eyes are now truant
From our gaze, from our voice calling your name.

The road has left you behind
And as you fly to hence you came from,
You are now light, air, water and being
To float in the waters that calmed you soul
When body cradled your spirit as one.

Gone from the grind of societies chains
Gone from the culture that moulded your mind
Gone from the friends that welcomed your smiles
Gone from the family that you nourished and carried
to ride the stars of the ultimate journey.

It is effortless for the mould, the chains to release our bindings …
Hoping that the smiles and time you spent
With the humanity you travelled with,
leave a cast of true essence and bestow on your epithet
mother, sister, daughter, lover and friend.

Everything else other than that… is non-essential
For love is the greatest of treasures.
Money could not bring us back,
Regret cannot stop the tears,
Work cannot dictate our value.

But Vicki, you loved as everyone recollects
You savoured the adventure of live
You celebrated the life given to you
You cared for the people that you have touched
You gave “You” when you talked and even listened.

You have not truly left us
For time is but a dream
And we all march to the same rhythm
And we learn from you to live life
To savour love that is and will ever be.

I may not be there to see your ashes
Mix with the tide
But I live close to the sea
And will light a candle in the dark
For I hear your laughter and see your smile.

Goodbye to the greetings of your voice
Hello to the spirit of your essence.
Goodbye to the toil and the chains
Hello to the stars and the waves.
Goodbye my friend, until………

My prayers are with you Cummings Clan. May her strength and love nourish your memories all the days of your life. Peace…..

Love,
Belinda Bonzon-Liu

Vicki Cummings, my friend! Her advice to me was usually on target. Even though Vicki would give you a hard time, she loved us all, especially her family. What a big heart! I will miss her. Rest in peace, my friend.

Vicki is a unique force of nature, and she had earned my respect by just being herself. In all the years that we've worked together, she never compromised her values, her beliefs, and her integrity. Here's looking at you, my precious, amazing diva, my friend!

Vicki Cummings. What a character. She could find humor in anything. With Vicki it didn't matter how much time had lapsed between us - we'd just pick up where we left off. I will miss her wit and strong spirit. Sending love and light to all her family and friends.

Vickie had a smile that would like up a room. I would see her in the morning and she was always happy and only had positive things to say. I know she loved her family -- she will be missed.

Vicki the Gentle Warrior

October 24, 2014

Vicki would always send me pictures of Dolls...this was the last one she forwarded to me..this picture reminds me of you Vicki... Though the hard exterior you would try to portray at times...in your eyes we saw love, gentleness, meekness, peace, patience, kindness, and gratefulness for the experience and wisdom of life. Through your light I had the honor to experience your knowledge, encouragement, loving correction and enlightening dialogue. The time you shared with us all brings priceless memories. They will always be in our hearts my friend. You will truly be missed. Thank you for your time and letting me steal all the hugs I wanted...I can still hear you yelling "Get this little girl off of me!"
