The novel, Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, summarizes the events of a seemingly normal day in the small town of Sterling, New Hampshire. The novel switches back and forth from the past, to the present, and even to the future. In the present, Peter Houghton opens fire at Sterling High School, killing nine people. The past outlines the events leading to the final straw that sparked Peter to committing the shooting. The future follows the protagonist, Josie, and her close friends and family through the trial and conviction. I strongly recommend this novel to people of any gender or age.
