Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts
A true friend is never truly gone. Their spirit lives on in the memories of those who loved them.
The bond between friends is beyond this mortal world. I can still feel Kehinde with me every day, helping me make it through. He is by my side, and yours, forever

I have known Victor, Kehinde Oginni since 1971, when we both started secondary school at Loyola College, Ibadan. I know it’s a bit cliched to say we hit it off from the moment we met, however, it is true. as we were both assigned to the same class from the very first day.

We both had one thing in common – truancy. We were both restless and adventurous, and this made us miss classes in the early days, in search of adventure. Such fun we had, exploring the sights of Agodi and its environs, only returning to school at the end of the day. But Kein was so clever and intelligent that despite all the truancy, he always delivered when it mattered.

As Biola Ogunrombi (another classmate and good friend) mentioned in his tribute, his nickname in school was Satiru. He’d already stated the reason for this nickname.

We both went our separate ways in 1975, until we met again by chance in 1988, in London’s West End. And as luck would have it, we both lived less than five minutes away from each other. We continued our friendship with the same intensity as we did when we were younger. There were a limited number of people to whom I could really open my heart, to whom I could really speak with total frankness. Victor was one of them. He was one person to whom I could unburden myself.
We continued our friendship, even when we both got married and started raising families. It was only natural that our families became friends.

Dear friends are those who know our hearts, our minds and choose us as their friends. Through his extraordinary example, Kehinde proved that true friendship has room for both ambition and selflessness. I am better for knowing you, better for having met you. May you be as blessed in the next life, my friend, as I was in this one by knowing you.

As we grieve the passing to glory of Kein, we celebrate his memory and rededicate ourselves to the values to which he devoted his extraordinary life. He will be greatly missed. My family and I send our love and deepest condolences to his wife and children.

Saying goodbye isn't for us. Instead, I will say that I look forward to seeing my friend again, each time I am reminded of him through a phrase, a joke, even an article of clothing. These are the things that will keep us close despite death

I will conclude with the following statement: “It is God who creates, God who calls, and God who sends”. AVITOR, as I fondly called you pal, the gates have been opened, and now you’re in a better place. Adieu, my good friend.

Love leaves a memory no one can steal and death leaves a memory no one can heal.

We always remember your caring heart and unwavering support through the good and bad times.

We will miss you dearly and always cherish all the memories we have together.

We are saddened that death took you away but the Bible says we should give thanks in all situations.

Continue to rest on in God's glory.

We love u so much Dad...

It's with a very heavy heart that I write this tribute, I attended the same church with Daddy Oginni as we fondly called him, for about 4 years. He was very friendly and down to earth and gentle. Auntie Shade loves the young people in the church and she is always supporting them. Daddy Oginni was very funny and friendly. Humm..... It so sad to know that you are no longer with us... We take consolation in the fact that you are now in a better place away from all the troubles of this world. Rest in perfect peace sir, till we meet again. Auntie Shade it is well with you and my sisters in Jesus name. Accept my condolences ma.

I write this with great sadness over the unthinkable loss of a great friend -Victor Oginni
He fought a brave and strong battle with the illness but the illness would not allow him
to get better. He took each day as it comes ,never really complaining, and always hoping that the treatments would finally end so he could get on with his life. This was my hope too.
This great guy was a wonderful friend to me, for over 40 years with his gentle and caring nature.
He was a wonderful father to his children and laid a strong foundation for them
I will really miss your great sense of humour, all those short calls to talk sometimes seriously or just jisting
Sleep well Ogins baba...your memory will remain for ever!

I was privileged to meet Mr Oginni twice in professional capacity. He was very accommodating and understanding.
He was a gentle man and very polite when putting his point across.
He was a wise man and knew what he wanted.

May your soul continue to rest in peace and God Almighty will comfort the family you left behind.

Tribute TO Our Departed Cousin: Mr Kehinde Victor Oginni
Brother Kein as fondly call is a great soul! The news of your passing came shockingly, and I was so sorrowful at your departure.
The first time I met Brother Kein was sometimes in 1993 during the burial of his father, my uncle. There was no personal contact then as the circumstance did not offer such opportunity. Our most interactions started many years later when I moved to Australia. He will call me to check how I am doing with lot of joke in our conversations.
When I came to London in December 2015 on vacation with my family, Brother Kein was excited to meet me and my family. He did everything possible to ensure we spent time together. He came to pick us from the hotel where we were staying. We had Christmas dinner with him and his family. It was a great family time. I remembered leaving my jumper behind which he had to travel back to bring the jacket to me.
Brother Kein is an encourager. When he learnt that I have set up my own practice, he had lot of insight to share and advice on how to improve the business. His wisdom is very great.
Brother Kein, you have lived, and you will live on in our heart.
I commiserate with Auntie Sade, Sola, Busayomi and Tomiwa for your husband and father has gone to rest in peace. I commiserate with brother Jide, Odun, Taiwo senior, Idowu and Taiwo Junior on the lost of your brother.
Rest on Brother Kein.

My childhood friend's husband, Shade's sweetheart, Baba Sola. I remember vividly the last time I saw you when I spent the night at your house because Shade and I were going out. You were with me in the kitchen keeping me company while I was preparing breakfast while Shade was on a prayer call. I had to shoo you out of the kitchen you were distracting me with your funny jokes. You had a quirky sense of humour which made conversations with you very easy.

You have definitely left a void that cannot be filled but we know that God needed you more that was why you had to leave Shade and the girls. Rest in external peace my brother farewell till we meet again.

You were a great uncle and you were so fun to be around. Whenever you visited, it was filled with jokes, fun and laughter, a warm smile, and your teasing will be missed ,You were kind, hospitable, loving and generous, and we all loved you very much. You fought your sickness to the end and now you are in a better place. May the Lord be with you and with your spirit. I’ll miss you a lot.
We are never ready to say goodbye forever, even though we know it is a part of life. This day our hearts are heavy for losing someone so special, but as we mourn your death, we also celebrate your life.

It is unbelievable that you've gone so soon, your smile, advice and jokes will be missed forever. You are such a loving and caring person that goes out of your way to make things convenient for others, your heart was solidly gold. we will not grieve much as we are sure your sweet soul has gone to that gentle night. I remember when I used to be a community worker and you used to take me from church every Sunday to my workplace as you knew all the street corners leading to the main road. You will be greatly missed & i will forever miss that voice that always calls me ' Mrs Kelani'. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord until we meet to part no more xxx

I met Kehinde 50 years ago when we resumed as Form 1 boys at Loyola College Ibadan.
Although he was a day student, I was a boarder, we developed a very close relationship. I called him "Sabitu" coined after the name of a Maths teacher we had then -Mr Sadiku- because Kehinde was very brilliant and very hot in Maths. We both made A1 in Maths for WAEC.
In the last 5years, whenever he visited Nigeria, Folarin Ajoni and I made sure we picked him wherever he resided took him out for Dinner. I remember thet the last time we went to Country Club Ikeja.
He was always the one to send WhatsApp messages to me asking after my family. The last time he did that was on 20th February 2021 and I responded as usual also.
Kehinde was an unassuming, simple, amiable and accommodating person.
It came as a shock when I heard about his demise.
Kehinde, May the almighty God grant you eternal rest and may you find peace in His bosom. Amen.
May the almighty God comfort and strengthen your dear wife, children and your entire family. Amen
Adieu Kehinde!!! Goodnight.

Uncle Kennie

The news of your death came as a shock to me!; I said not again, just a few days to my late husband's birthday! I find it so difficult to cope with the news of your death. We spoke at length and you promised to be home soon to further your treatment at home and already contacts have been made with people you were to see but Alas! This was never to be. You came, you saw and you conquered even in death. Saying we will miss you is an understatement. You are a loving soul! Can't forget in a hurry how you sob and cried when you saw your sick brother on his sick bed! I could see nothing but love from all your emotions that day.

We love and appreciate your genuine interest and love for Dipo and 1. Sleep on beloved Kenny, until the resurrection day.

Sleep on, beloved, sleep, and take thy rest;
Lay down thy head upon the Saviour's Breast;
We love thee well, but Jesus loves thee best:
Good night, good night, good night!

Dear Victor,

a few years ago I met you in Brussels and we became friends. Your death hurts me a lot. All my sympathies to your dear family.

Your death so early leaves me speechless. Why do good people die so quickly and so young! I cannot forget your kindness and above all your critical thinking during our conversations on various and varied subjects. You brightened up our meetings with your smile, your thoughts, your humor and your kindness. You had a heart of gold and when you expressed your joy you were like an open book. You will remain etched in my memory.

Rest in peace, where you are.

Uncle, I went numb and was speechless when I was invited to connect with your dear wife, Shade and family to say a few words to you when you were in the hospital.
I couldn't get the words out but it was a honour to see you. Although you nodded in response to those who said something, I was encouraged that all was well.
I will remember how nice you to my family. Your intelligence and the best at what you do and your discipline career-wise. You commanded respect and was very respectful.
You honoured invitations to our occasions either big or small. You were jovial in nature and made us laugh.
You celebrated Shade on her 50th with your beautiful children making sure all went to God's glory.
More importantly, I thank God for His mercies on you.
May your gentle soul RIP and I pray that God will continue to strengthen and comfort your dear children and your dear wife, Shade in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Brother Kein, my cousin my big brother, I was utterly gutted at the news of your demise. I find it hard to believe you’re gone, writing this tribute is so hard but in all things we give thanks.
Who are we to question God? He gives and take away but we know He is a good God regardless. We love you but your maker loves you most and I know you are in a better place.

Thank God I was able to see you before your demise despite you discouraging me from coming around but I insisted who would have known that was the last time I was going to see you - Thanks Aunty Sade.

Whenever your calls come through the next thing you say is ‘Iya ijesa’. I am going to miss your calls, your banters, all our discussions that ranges from family to careers.

You’ve gone too soon but we hope in God our comforter.
Blessed are the memories of the righteous.

What a sad loss to read of the passage of Kenny OGINNI. I recall the brilliant jovial easy-going colleague back then in Loyola Collage Ibadan. Being a twin we had the pleasure of both Taiwo & Kehinde. Kenny was well regarded by me for his brilliance especially in Mathematics as a subject taught by late Pa Kotun and late Revd Father Sweeney. I lost all contacts with him thereafter for almost 45years (1975-2020) only to reconnect sometime mid- 2020 during the height of the Covid -19 lockdown. Unbelievably after initial introductions our conversations went like there was never a break! Kehinde brought back reminiscences of our college days in his usual easy -going manner. Little did I know that the time was nigh. Adieu . May the good Lord comfort and console the family left behind. May light perpetual shine upon the soul of the departed. Amen.

But thank God for sweet memories you left behind. The last time I saw you was about 2 years ago at Sabo,Yaba in Lagos when you were so appreciative of my surprise visit. You were your same old jovial self just as you've been since our younger days at Mokola/Bodija.
