Vince Gangemi Sr. was a lifelong resident of Mullica Hill who spent most of his life farming the land he bought as a 23 year old man in Harrison twp . He was a dedicated father, husband and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years Loretta, who worked so hard to make sure Vince was able to continue doing the things he loved as long as he could. Vince survived his loving wife of 42 years, Angie, with whom he raised four adoring children, Sam, Vince, II (Judy), John (Judy), Joanne Trazzera (Mike), also survived by his dear stepdaughter Maria Unger (Scott). Vince was a loving, dedicated grandfather to ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren, which he spent the last 5 decades supporting at various high school and college sporting events and performances. He also had numerous nieces and nephews including his devoted niece Nancy.
Vince was an avid race fan and loved to spend weekends watching the sprint-car races. He was a hunting enthusiast and always looked forward to hunting season with his sons.
Vince Gangemi, Sr. dedicated most of his adult life to making Harrison Township a great place to live and raise a family. He was a leader and dedicated volunteer within the community and served as head of the Township Recreation Commission helping to organize many Harrison Twp festivities like the annual Halloween and Easter events which brought the entire community together.
Vince also held many other positions within the community including roles on Township Planning Board, Environmental Commission and was President of the Republican Club. At the age of 88, he decided to make a difference yet again, and won a Committeeman seat on Harrison Twp Committee.
He was a devoted member of Holy Name of Jesus RC Church, now the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit, where he served as a greeter together with his grandson and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Vince left this world 5 days shy of his 91st birthday surrounded by his family and friends. During his time on earth, Vince left an impression on everyone he met. Anywhere he went, people would come up and say "hello Mr Gangemi", whether it was at the local hardware store, at a sporting event, or on vacation in Florida.
For those that knew him it is hard to believe he is gone. The epitome of strength and authenticity, Vince's love of family and community were second to none. While Vince will be greatly missed by his family and friends, we know that he is in a better place and will have a lot of catching up to do with many loved ones.
